The PowderMills is a beautiful Grade II listed Hotel in a restored Georgian Country House in acres of landscaped gardens, lakes, woods and fields within walking distance of the medieval town of Battle, the Abbey and the Battlefields of 1066. Built in the 18th century as a Gunpowder Owner's Residence, the property has seen many changes in its history, notable when it was restored and converted into the privately owned, charming Hotel it is today.
The outside is enhanced by ancient wisteria and there are remains in the grounds of artifacts used for the manufacture of the gunpowder reputed to be the finest in Europe. The Hotel is dog friendly and there are loads of great walks to enjoy with your dogs in the grounds and surrounding countryside.

Lovely setting, very friendly and helpful staff.
Food was unfortunately somewhat mediocre.
The starter was delicious, the main course disappointing and the desert was also delicious.
Its definitely worth a visit but would I go back for just the food probably not, would I go back for the customer service and the scenery I probably would.

A perfect venue. The courtesy shown and service given was truly great. To hold a wake in such surroundings where everything went smoothly was supported by the excellence of the service provided. The day was rounded off with a sit down evening meal. We all chose an alacarte menu which was superb. A sad event was turned into a memorable day for all the right reasons.

A mixed review ... This place has great potential.. the gounds are beautifully landscaped and extensive for a small 49 bedroom hotel. Lovely pool (unheated) , old world rooms but...
the whole hotel seems a little tired and with just a little TLC could make it great.
Price for a small double room was £160 which seemed a little high
