The Royal Victoria Hotel, originally built in 1828 as the focal point of Burton's St Leonards, derives its name from Queen Victoria who stayed at the hotel. Situated in a prime position on the seafront in St Leonards-on-Sea, the hotel offers you a comforting mixture of traditional hospitality, friendly atmosphere and all the modern conveniences you would expect from Hastings' landmark hotel.
As soon as you step through the revolving doors you'll appreciate that you've arrived somewhere special; a hotel with both character and warmth. Following a typically genial welcome by our Reception team, the rare charm of our period marble staircase will hopefully catch your eye as it leads up to the Piano Bar & Lounge and its panoramic seafront views, all before settling in to the spacious and quirky elegance of our bedrooms.

Arrived New Years Eve having booked and received confirmation 2 weeks previously.
Reception could find no record of our reservation. Was then very dismissive of us when we told her we had booked via email: “We don’t do email bookings. Only Hotel.com or online”
When she was shown the confirmation email of our booking she simply said “I’ll have to speak to someone”. Asked if they had a room available for us, was evasive saying “We’re tight”, and simply suggested we wait for 15 minutes.
Nothing further happened so we had to go and find a room elsewhere.
No apology. No concern

A warm welcome is not an option with this hotel. Staff almost irritated by your presence. Tired old suite with sea view and plenty of sea air through the poorly fitting windows. Parking although promised is a lottery and breakfast tasted like it had been cooking all night.
However suite was clean and not all the staff hated the guests.

Faded grandeur, great staff.
Our bed was a standard double, far too small!
Good breakfast, good quality ingredients, lots of choice, coffee is a bit grim, had to pick a time for it, but that's fine.
Bit shabby, but clean, plenty of hot water.
We had dinner there one night and it was great, good service (swapped the mash for potatoes), great flavours, good value.
