As a Catholic School our policy is to encourage the practice of Christian values and attitudes. An environment in which our children can learn and grow spiritually, academically, aesthetically and physically. We aim to build a system whereby staff members may develop professionally in order to facilitate the needs of our pupils.
Services
Ballymacward Primary School (including Ballymacward Pre-School) is the Catholic Maintained parish school for Hannahstown covering the wide geographical area from Hannahstown Hill to Divis, Stoneyford, The Rock and onwards towards Lisburn and Glenavy. We enjoy a stunning rural location on the western edge of the Belfast Hills with views of Lough Neagh and the Mournes.
As a Catholic School, we draw on the shared experience of home, family and parish to underpin a broad and balanced curriculum. Promote effective learning and set high standards by providing a curriculum designed to meet the child's individual needs and, at the same time, fulfil the Northern Ireland Curriculum requirements.
Extra curricular activities include activities Accelerated Reading Club on Monday, Coding Club on Tuesday, Eco Club on Wednesday (all 2 per day or 5 for all 3) and Multisports on Thursday organised by Activity NI. We also have school GAA teams in both codes, BreakfastClub for our children and the playgroup children, P6/7 Transfer Preparation Classes and a Waiting Class for P.1 and P.2 children from 2pm - 3pm.
This beautiful bench has been designed and commissioned by the Frazer family in memory of Diarmuid to mark the second anniversary of his passing. Today it was unveiled in our school playground and it will always remind us of our friend Diarmuid, who himself was everyone's friend, and a friend to everyone.
There is a mid-morning HEALTHY BREAK from 10.45am to 10.55am during which children are given a piece of fruit, a bread stick and a drink Of milk. We ask for a voluntary contribution of l.50 per week (1 for P.1 & P.2). Pupils are requested to be punctual each morning, As teachers are engaged in other duties, supervision of pupils cannot be guaranteed before 9am.
