Turkuaz is a family friendly restaurant, established in 2005, specialising in authentic Turkish cuisine which has been served in Ottoman Palaces for centuries. The atmosphere is easy going and relaxed with a welcoming decor, Turkish music and the smell of Turkish Pide cooking in a large open Stone Oven.

This place was nicely decorated inside. Simple and tasteful. The service was nice. The food was good. I Like the fact that they don’t force gratuity on you. It wasn’t pushed on you. That was really nice. Definitely check this place if you are craving Turkish and Mediterranean cuisine in Hells Kitchen!

We needed a pre theater restaurant today and as luck would have it we found Turkuaz, 310 W 53rd St. Although we arrived early, we were graciously welcomed in by the owner who allowed us to sit at a table and asked if we wanted drinks. He brought us wine, menus and took time to go over the entrees with us. We started with delicious smokey Baba ghanouj with warm pita bread. Followed by Turkuaz Shish, small tender marinaded lamb cubes on skewers with rice and salad. Moist, delicious and perfectly pink in the middle. Highly recommend!! My husband had a lamb and okra dish that he enjoyed. It was an

Saturday night it was busy, reserved table for 3 at 7pm. Food was good , ordered the lamb Adana kebab , chicken shish kebab and sultan delight . For appetizers we ordered cheese sticks and zucchini pancake. All tasted perfectly cooked! Only thing is they’re super short staffed for a Saturday. Poor guy who attended to us was running around sitting people, taking orders, running tables , billing people and handling the register . Price is expensive for the food. Service started slow, tables aren’t ready. no cutlery but food was already served, never gave water .

Honestly, you're paying for the ambiance and not really the food. I got the lamb chops, but they had no salt or any other seasonings on it. The salad was more flavorful than the lamb was tbh.
I was really disappointed because it is an expensive restaurant so I would expect more.
The service was great though and the interior design was lovely.

Turkauz restaurant has become a haven for me in the city. I get takeout, have gone on a few dates and had one large gathering of friends at this spectacular place. My favorite meat dishes are prepared with time and care. The dishes have so much flavor- my personal favorite include all the lamb dishes and the stuffed grape leaves (home made). There are different atmospheres to choose from, a well-lit cosy backyard area, and a calm and collected inside area. The hosts are very personable and remember familiar faces. The owner particularly cares deeply about the culinary experience of his guests.
