A lovely, spacious room, with king-size bed and fully en-suite. Tastefully refurbished whilst retaining the charm and character of the building. Long wooden beam strech across the ceiling, and you are gretting by one of the oldest feature in the pub, the original wooden panel door. Complete with tea and coffee making facilities, as well as a large Samsung HD TV.

After a bad experience at the hotel over the road, we decided to nip across to this place. What a difference, despite being reasonably busy we were attended to within minutes, had placed an order and had been brought our drinks whilst we waited. Very quickly our food arrived, great service,lovely food and the staff are wonderful.

After looking at the menu on line we were disappointed to find some of the items were not on the menu in the pub, that said what we did have was most enjoyable. We decided to just share a starter and the battered black pudding was delicious, for mains we had fish & chips and scampi both were lovely. The staff were very friendly and we will definately be back.

Only the 4 stars as the room had a few minor issues with it, light fitting was falling off the wall, sash window wouldn't stay open, drawers quite difficult to manoeuvre open, bit noisy in the morning as we could hear barrels being shifted and the noise from the kitchen below wasn't great.
Having said all of that the staff and food were simply amazing and made up for them few shortcomings, I'm sure with these minor issues in the room dealt with accordingly then this would no doubt be 5 stars every time. Yeah i would return.

This is a nice pub with rooms. Welcome was excellent, food and drinks very good, fish was huge. Breakfast very good and location for the town centre excellent which was also good for walking and visiting other places easily. The only negative was the location of our room which was right out side the entrance to the pub. There didn’t seem to be any consideration from the people gathered around the entrance to the pub until well after midnight and no attempt to limit the noise from the establishment. top tip, avoid the rooms at the front of the pub.

The food was delicious. Dog and child friendly. The portions are a good size, although the fish is huge, the kids meal was a good size, bit too much for my 3yr old, so I helped finish it. The staff was very friendly and helpful. More than happy to move us inside from the beer garden when we requested due to some rogue wasps taking alot of interest in our drinks.
Will definitely recommend and return myself.
