Bishops Down Primary School
At Bishops Down Primary School we are committed to providing all children with learning opportunities to engage in history. History is about real people who lived, and real events which happened in the past. History is concerned with sequence, time and chronology and is the study of evidence about the past; it gives us a sense of identity, set within our social, political, cultural and economic relationships.

History fires the children's curiosity about the past in Britain and the wider world and plays an essential part in preparing us for living and working in the contemporary world. At Bishops Down, pupils consider how the past influences the present, what past societies were like, how these societies organised their politics, and what beliefs and cultures influenced people's actions.
Services
We can offer both the 15hrs Universal Funding and 30hrs Extended Funding. Why not make an appointment to come see our nursery provision for 3 and 4 year olds? Bishops Down Nursery School is a sessional nursery, led by qualified teachers, for children aged 3-4 years old. We are very proud of our provision and, we believe, we offer our children the best start possible.
We pride ourselves on our modern canteen and kitchen. Healthy and delicious school meals are cooked on site daily by Nourish, our chosen contractor. All Children from Nursery to Year 6 will make their meal choices every day at the lunch counter. The cost of a school meal from Easter 2020 is 2.30 per day.
As part of our ongoing drive to help parents stay informed of what's happening at school, we are using School Gateway - a website and smartphone app that shows information relating to your child or children. In addition parents will be able to organise payments and bookings through School Gateway. Activating your School Gateway account is both quick and easy to do.
If you would like to find out more please do phone the school for a tour and informal chat with Michelle Woods, SENDCo. This school and all its personnel are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young persons. All posts are subject to an Enhanced DBS check and the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006.
Find out what to expect from Home Learning/Remote Education when whole cohorts (classes/bubbles) are asked by our Government or your Local Authority to remain at home. This policy has been formed to address the need for a clear, purposeful approach to homework in our school. Our school refers to homework as 'home learning'.

My child although 8 went to 4 different schools already and this one is probably the one enjoyed most. Although I can see her confidence declining slightly I don’t believe teachers are entirely to be blamed for that. We are working on that at home. Other than that learning is fun and there is always something new my child talks about after school. Pupils are well behaved and schools core values are adhered to. Feel good environment with lots of extras like Forrest School and swimming lessons. Good choice of after school clubs and after school care is amazing. I’m so much more at ease knowing

My daughter attended Bishops Down primary and I would not recommend this school . Whilst at bishops down she wasn't able to do the simplest tasks required and has now after reschooling caught up . Staff turnover is very high and no structure in place . My daughter had no support and ended up very unhappy and bullied. My concerns were dismissed on every occasion I made contact with the school and towards the end it was suggested that my daughter suffers from a learning difficulty which prevents her from making progress . All those claims have since been dismissed by her new school and she is now

My concern for this School is through personal experience, I would definitely hesitate in recommending this School.
I do hope this School can learn to be more aware of its failings and support children in a full and sincere manor, its pledge to its children must be one of being truly aware of its own internal issues.
