1st Steps Day Nursery was founded in 2003 with a commitment to provide the highest standards of care and education. We are a fully registered, 105-place, family-run nursery providing professional quality care and education for children aged from birth to 5 years. Our provision is rated as Outstanding by Ofsted (full Ofsted report).

Services
We incorporate the 7 areas of learning from the EYFS (Statutory Framework) in everyday play ensuring that the 'Help children achieve more ethos' (Every Child Matters) is embedded into practice. Early numeracy and literacy occur in many forms, from story, rhyme and music time with Cathy, counting stairs as we climb, to Spanish with our amigo Peter.
Here at 1st Steps, we are committed to providing all children with a healthy balanced diet to ensure that every child receives the Government guideline of 5+ pieces of fruit/vegetables a day whilst at nursery. We consider meal times to be a social experience that gives the children a chance to communicate amongst themselves and with key carers and other staff.
Alongside the managers and assistant manager, there is a full staff team within the nursery. Most staff have been fully trained in Pediatric First Aid and have also achieved a minimum of Level 3 NVQ in Childcare. All staff have Safeguarding, Safer Food for Better Business training, food hygiene and Health and Safety.
