Love this hotel. Such a quiet location that you can sleep with the windows open and mostly hear no traffic at all, just an occasional local passing by. Drinks on the lawn before dinner is a lovely experience on a hot day. The chef is good, much better than I expected - my starter of scallops on a bed of pea puree, crisp bacon pieces and squid ink was memorable for all the right reasons.
The rooms are a little cranky because of the building's age, but they are cared for and spotlessly clean.
A stay here is a very sweet experience.
ps - just noticed an earlier review from "Daniele" complaining

Lovely place. Beautiful garden and in a picturesque village. Family meal for 8 at a round table in a separate area for ourselves. Good service. Loved my starter and dessert, not quite so keen on the roast beef but others had it and were happy. The two members of our family who stayed there had a lovely room.

Beautiful looking gardens tempt you in, but only to be ‘greeted’ by irate staff who said they would serve us but we should have booked (perhaps that should be stated in the website).
After all the sighing and huffing we were made to feel entirely unwelcome so voted with our feet.
One to avoid until they realise the benefit of a good customer experience.
