When teaching History we give children the opportunity to make connections, think critically and ask perceptive questions about their own lives, the lives of others and how we know about the past. Our school benefits from strong links with Historic England and we are a Heritage School.
The help and guidance provided by these historians has supported us in bringing local history to the forefront of our history curriculum and a third local history week has been planned for 2020.The History Co-ordinator receives extra training in explicitly teaching local history, remaining up to date with current curriculum changes and the latest methods of teaching History in an exciting and meaningful way.

We are delighted that you want to learn more about Horfield Church of England Primary School. We hope that we are able to give you a "feel" for the life of our very special school community. Currently, we have 419 children organised into 14 different classes. We offer a distinctive Christian ethos with a clear vision for excellence which is shared by all staff.
To inspire and develop pupils to meet the challenges of an ever-changing world; to develop future citizens who are able to cope with change and take a useful, satisfying and personally successful place in society. To work as a whole school community to maintain high standards of behaviour and respect within and outside school.
Mrs Kirsten Cunningham works every Tuesday and Wednesday, assisting Mrs Harris and Mrs Duggan in all the day to day management of the school, teaching Science to Year 6 in the morning, (in normal times) conducting our brilliant orchestra in the afternoon and then runs our KS2 choir after school, amongst many other talents that she shares with our school.
These values flow from our vision and are the habits and practices we seek to embody in all adults and children at this school. We focus on one value each term, and our collective worship is planned around it. As a Church school, we interpret these as Christian values rooted in stories from the Bible.
