Learning Tree Nursery
The Learning Tree Nursery is a friendly, independent nursery opened in 1994 to provide high quality nursery sessions, with reasonable fees, welcoming to all. Our priority is a happy, caring, and supportive family atmosphere with plenty of individual attention and encouragement. We have a good staff/child ratio in a stimulating environment to help each child achieve their full potential in readiness for School.

The Nursery has two large, bright and spacious rooms, with plenty of natural light. We have a secure outdoor play area with a covered section, a wildlife mural and an all-weather safety surface. Staff have established good partnerships with parents. They regularly share information about their children's progress with them and suggest ideas on how they can further extend learning at home.
Services
We are very proud of the fact that we are a personal, family run nursery, with its history going back to 1948. In that year Dorothy McKenzie, the mother of The Learning Tree's founder Joan, established the first McKenzie Day Nursery in Priory Road West Hampstead.

In 1954 the nursery moved to Abbey Road, where it remained for 40 years until 1994 when we moved to our present site in Quex Road after Joan McKenzie took over the running, and re-named it The Learning Tree.So to date we have provided 73 years of uninterrupted nursery-age childcare. In that time we have had generations of parents bringing their children to the nursery who themselves were at the nursery as children.
Our curriculum is planned in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage: an emphasis on learning through play with a balance of child-initiated and adult-led activities. Greeting parents and children, welcoming them into a warm and safe environment. The children are encouraged to identify their own named peg and then place their name on a wall chart.
The EYFS Framework explains how and what your child will be learning to support their healthy development. Your child will be learning skills, acquiring new knowledge and demonstrating their understanding through 7 areas of learning and development. These prime areas are those most essential for your child's healthy development and future learning.
The Manager at the Learning Tree has been trained in Safeguarding Children procedures as issued by Camden (with regard to the Children Act 2004). Other staff attend Camden courses on Safeguarding Children as and when such courses are available and convenient, with in-house training to augment this.
The Learning Tree has always been committed to an Equal Opportunities and Valuing Diversity policy. The aim of our policy is to ensure that no person, whether a child, a parent/carer, an employee - including prospective children, parents and employees - receives less favourable treatment by reason of their gender, race, sexual orientation, marital status, disability, religion or age.

This Nursery is truly amazing, my child has down syndrome, and they are so welcoming and warm, they treat him with huge love, they are also very knowledgeable when it comes to getting the maximum professional help.
Can't thank them enough for being so kind and for practicing inclusion in its best form
