Kings Arms Berkhamsted
Oakman Inns & Restaurants was founded in 2005. Our vision was to create an environment where like-minded people could come and enjoy some great food and drinks whilst catching up with friends, family, neighbours and colleagues. On the edge of Berkhamsted's high street market, and just a 10-minute walk from the train station, stands former 18th-century coaching inn, The Kings Arms.

Many of the building's original features have been preserved, including our bar's substantial 'hunting-lodge' fireplace, and exposed beams in the principal bedrooms. Our 14 en-suite bedrooms, light-filled restaurant and comfortable lounge and bar have transformed us into a destination venue.
Services
Each of the 14 en-suite rooms at The Kings Arms in Berkhamsted has been named after a character featured in local author, Graham Greene's, novels. Our spacious bridal suite features exposed original beam work and is one of three character suites which boast a four-poster bed. Our other offerings include four executive doubles, five doubles, one twin and one single room; each one refurbished to a high standard.
All our dishes are freshly prepared, from our traditional pizzas cooked in our wood-fired oven, to our premium aged British fillet steak, cooked over charcoal in our Josper grill. And each of our ingredients is carefully selected to ensure not only the highest welfare standards but the best possible quality and taste too.
The provenance of our drink is impressive with our extensive wine list having been compiled with help from Enotria&Coe, a company with a history spanning more than 125 years. In addition to stocking popular beers from Fuller's, we have a selection of locally sourced drinks. Fresh, raspberry and strawberry nose, with a light and juicy palate bursting with forest fruit.
Please note that all of our tables are available to book through our online booking system. When making a booking enquiry, if there isn't a table available at your chosen time and the system doesn't offer you an alternative time then unfortunately we are fully booked. We recommend either trying a different day to see if we can accommodate your booking or alternatively why not explore one of our sister venues.
Located upstairs at The Kings Arms, the Greene Lounge is the ideal setting to enjoy drinks with family and friends alike. This gorgeous space offers a lovely warm and welcoming atmosphere from the moment you arrive where you are greeted by a vibrant dcor and chic environment. The Greene Lounge is as inviting for coffee and papers in the morning as it is for a change of scenery to work from in the day.

Below average. Restaurant service was terrible and food was a bit tasteless. Room did not feel clean, with old hair in the shower and mouldy grout. All this charm was topped of by the fire alarm going off above our bed at 6:45am. 100% do not recommend.

What a fabulous stay we had! We were moved into the most beautiful room with four-poster bed, complete with towel swans and rose petals. Mattress was extremely comfortable, bathroom was nice and big with a bath and shower and clean. Staff were accommodating and super helpful and lovely, breakfast was delicious, drinks in the bar were lovely by an open fire - overall an absolutely delightful time. Would absolutely come and stay again!

Both my husband, our guest and myself had fish. All four meals was well below normal standards. Fish was undercooked slimy, half the meal arrived, and when the rest arrived we had to wait more than 30 minutes for the rest of th table to finish their meal before we could order pudding. End up not having pudding. Definitely won't return, nor recommend.

Nice pub with friendly and helpful staff. Found us a table as walk-ins with no problem. Good very nice and reasonably priced. Seating outside under trendy marquee with festoon lights. Nice place for just a few drinks or food.

Not local to the area and came across The Kings Arms on a Sunday evening. The menu has a great selection including vegan options for my partner. Yummy food, reasonable prices and friendly staff. A special thanks to the Manager on duty Hannah, who went out of her way to make our brief visit so enjoyable,!

Lovely atmosphere, beautiful al fresco dinning area (although we ate inside) and lovely staff. The food was beautiful and there was plenty of choice on the menu for our 2 vegan party members. It was our first time there but definitely not the last. Thank you for a wonderful evening.
