Set in the lovely Chiltern village of Ley Hill a mile outside Chesham, The Swan is a beautiful 16th Century Public House originally converted from three cottages. Husband and wife team Nigel and Sam, have lovingly cared for The Swan since they arrived in 2005. The interior of the Pub has been improved over the years to highlight the beautiful original features and character of this wonderful old building.

For example the wooden beams, inglenook fireplace and the old original stove have been restored to their former glory. You will always receive a warm welcome from Sam, Nigel and their team. Relax and enjoy the friendly atmosphere whilst sampling our fine selection of real ales and wines and don't forget to try something from our menu.
Services
Built in circa 1520 and 1680 the timber framed building consists of three cottages with five extensions, oak beamed ceilings and pillars, a kitchen range and an Inglenook fireplace. Research has shown that The Swan is believed to be the oldest pub in Buckinghamshire. The Swan was an ale house (selling only beer) for most of its life and became a pub in the early 20th century.
The Swan has always served a fine selection of well-kept real ales. Regular ales include Timothy Taylor Landlord, St Austell Tribute and the local Tring Side Pocket for a Toad. In addition there are always one or two carefully selected Guest Ales. Nigel prides himself on the quality of his beers and if you are unfamiliar with particular real ales please ask for a sample.
The Restaurant has been lovingly restored and is in keeping with the rest of the Pub. Our restaurant provides comfortable, intimate and relaxed surroundings to enjoy a leisurely home cooked meal. Our team of friendly waiting staff are always on hand to provide a helpful and courteous service. We only use the best fresh ingredients in our dishes, which are sourced from local suppliers where possible.
The Swan has a large well-kept garden both at the front and to the rear of the building. We are always complimented on the variety of flowers, plants, shrubs and trees. In the summer months we would encourage garden lovers to enjoy our beautiful display of tubs and hanging baskets. During the warmer months our customers love to dine outside and relax in our lovely garden.

We were staying in Chesham over the August bank holiday weekend and noticed The Swan were hosting the Ley Hill Music and Beer Festival and thought that it might be nice to attend the event. However, our day went from bad to worse. We got a taxi to the pub from our hotel which was 2.5 miles away and they charged us a staggering £10.20 - rip off price we thought! The pub itself is charming and full of character and is in a lovely little setting, but when we arrived at about 1pm just as the event had started, you could see the landlady was already stressed out!! She was in a bit of a panic and was

Looking for somewhere that could comfortably accommodate a group of nine for dinner, roughly geographically central to all, with a car park, led us to the location. So more luck than informed judgement but a marvelous find! Right on the outskirts of Chesham, next to the green at Botley Village overlooking the cricket pitch and Ley Hill golf course. Would be a good choice for a late walk and drink on an idyllic warm summers evening. Inside there is a lovely atmosphere of a traditional old English pub with real wooden beam ceiling - mind your head!!!- and inglenook fireplace. Good choice of beers
