The Peat Inn
Few chefs can claim to hold a university degree in history. This unorthodox background explains the calm, questioning approach by our Chef proprietor Geoffrey Smeddle and holds the key to our cuisine imbued with thoughtfulness and originality. Services
A warm welcome awaits you at The Peat Inn, in Peat Inn village, By St Andrew's. The Peat Inn is thought to have been built on this spot in the mid-1700s. Gradually, the surrounding village grew up around the Inn, taking its name from the Inn itself, creating our unusual address: The Peat Inn, Peat Inn.
The successful candidate will ideally have experience at one star or three AA rosette level but the most important qualifications are a desire to learn, work hard and strive for excellence as part of a friendly and highly professional team. Geoffrey Smeddle is often commended for his accomplished - yet wholly unpretentious - food. The chef has worked in prestigious kitchens around the world, and this collection of recipes in part reflects that with its wealth of influences and flavours. From a one-pot Lamb tagine recipe to Vietnamese pho, there is no shortage of aromatic dishes from the around the world in this collection.
1 night stay, bed and breakfast, dinner from six course Tasting Menu excluding wines and a half bottle of champagne and a box of handmade chocolates. 2 night bed and breakfast, plus dinner from Menu of the Day on your first evening and dinner from our six course Tasting Menu excl. Please note that if you choose a menu other than that included in your package, it will be charged at the same rate as the package, or greater if applicable.
It is almost unnecessary to say that the Royal & Ancient Golf Club is the home of world golf. St Andrews warmly welcomes visiting golfers from all over the world. The various courses, a truly global attraction, have not just shaped the town, but seep into its very heart. Built on public land, the 17th and 18th Holes of the Old Course run up to local shops and are flanked by local roads.

This was booked for our honeymoon and what a fantastic experience. We stayed in one of the suites and booked in for the tasting menu. The service was incredible, the staff were so accommodating, and every element of the meal was outstanding. Thank you for making our honeymoon such a special occasion!

This is simply one of the best retaurants I have ever eaten at. Superb staff, wonderful menu and unsurpassed service. Delicate flavors all enhanced by the wonderful setting in an old inn. I heartily endorse its Michelin star rating. A must vist restaurant is you are into fine dining. The seafood dishes here are stunning.

So after originally booking a DBB package for my partners birthday months ago, we finally made it here as restrictions opened up again. First off, the room was beautiful. Split across 2 levels with a lonuge area upstairs with a spacious bathroom and bedroom downstairs. We were able to have a pre dinner drink in the lovely garden thanks to the sunny weather. We choose the 6 course tasting menu tasting menu with my partner going for the Pescetarian option. The food did not disappoint. It was delicious and every course was immaculately presented. My particular highlight was the chocolate souffle.

We were informed of a ventilated, private room inside the resturant for a special occasion. However this was not the case, the room was filled with 13 other people and a table in the corner. Not to mention the stuffy lack of ventilation and probably surrounding COVID-19 diners. The use of masks by staff allows the one star review but the lies etc allowed the low rating, this removed all respect and dignity for thier customers. DO NOT RECCOMEND

A lovely way to spend an afternoon. Food is delicious and with the additional canapés, amuse bouche and plentiful supplies of bread and petit fours also very good value for money. Service and ambience excellent and definitely worth a visit if you want to treat yourself.

I really don't agree with the current average rating on this restaurant (two and a half at the time of writing). This is one of my favourite restaurants in Scotland.

It's in a beautifully cosy setting (try to get a table with a view of the garden), the fine Scottish food is delicious, and the service superb. And if you go at lunchtime most days, you can eat for about £20 per person, which is pretty good for a place in the UK with a Michelin star. It's expensive for me to go (I live in another town and usually have to cab in) but for me it's always worth it.

We had a very poor experience at the Peat Inn. We made a reservation 8 months in advance of our trip to Scotland yet we were made to wait an hour and other couples were seated earlier even though they came in after us. Also we were seated next to a noisy party and even after requesting to be reseated were not accommodated. The food is satisfactory although over priced. Bottom line "too big for their britches". We recommend the Grange Inn where we were treated so nicely and the food was as good or better!
