Services
Children are born ready, able and eager to learn. They actively reach out to interact with other people, and in the world around them. Development is not an automatic process, however. It depends on each unique child having opportunities to interact in positive relationships and enabling environments.
Personal, Social and Emotional Development is one of the prime areas of learning from birth to 5 years of age. For babies we focus on the way they respond to adults and other children, use their voice and gestures to interact with others, show their emotion and seek comfort.
For toddlers we focus on the way they join in and share, show affection and develop friendships, separate from parents confidently and express their own preferences, interests and feelings. For pre-school children we focus on their confidence in making conversation with adults and with other children, express their wants, needs and interests and help them to understand boundaries.

For toddlers we focus on the way they have favourite stories, songs and rhymes, repeat words from familiar stories and distinguish between the different marks they make. For pre-school children we focus on segmenting sounds and continuing a rhyming string, linking sounds to letters, beginning to read words and simple sentences, enjoying books and starting to write their own name.
Nursery staff carry out regular observations of every child in our care, using the information gathered to plan activities which support your child's needs and interests. These observations cover all areas of development within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) as well as recording special moments or your child's response to activities.
There are two elements of the Government's Early Education Entitlement Grant which allow us to claim funding for all 3 and 4 year olds, from the term after they turn 3 years of age. The universal entitlement provides all parents with up to 570 hours each year. Some parents may be able to claim the Extended Entitlement funding, which provides up to 1140 hours per year for eligible 3 and 4 year olds.
