Had to give it one star at present, because it is still closed after flooding last year, when it eventually opens again and it it gets back up and running, Kevin the owner will have a brilliant hotel as it always was,and we will be back again for more walking weekends. And award it 5 🌟 again.

Fantastic food and staff. Book a table if you're visiting for food as we saw some being turned away due to space. We had the ribeye steak and fish and chips which were delicious to the eye and mouth. Highly recommended.

Lager selection a bit limited but the wine list was good. We visited here twice for evening meal and first night was fantastic, second night the microwaved pie was cold in the middle and crispy on the outside. Glad there was a Vegan pizza and vegan burger on the menu and my husband loved the cheese board.

Best toast.
We came to the Racehorses immediately after lockdown. All precautions are in place and we feel really safe.
Built in 1740 this hotel exudes charm. As you sit in the parlour waiting to eat you expect a character from a Dickens novel to arrive at any moment.
We were delighted with our room, which was modern and comfortable and much better than the usual in country hotels.
The welcome from all the staff was friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble.
The breakfast was excellent with the nicest toast I have been served in any hotel anywhere. Most times toast in hotels is cold

My husband and I had the most amazing two night stay here, it was the first time we had travelled with our 2 small dogs and the team couldn’t have been more accommodating. The room was spacious and clean, the food good and staff friendly. Couldn’t recommend enough. We will defiantly be back
