Failte romhaibh go leir! Welcome to St. Oliver Plunkett's P.S and thank-you for visiting our school website. In our school, we aim to provide an inclusive, pastoral and safe environment in which all children can grow in self-esteem, independence and confidence. Integral to this is the recognition of the value of every child, the 'living out' of the key values of Catholic education and the promotion of mutual understanding and respect for others.

Nestled in the orchards of Armagh, we are very proud of our local heritage and our links with our families, parish and the wider community. We hope our website will provide you with an overview of school life.
Services
Saint Oliver Plunkett's Primary School is an environment in which pupils, staff and parents are committed to the idea of excellence within a caring, supportive community. We the Governors and staff of St Oliver Plunkett's Primary School believe the school to be a vital party of the Catholic Community.
Saint Oliver Plunkett's Primary School is situated in the town land of Ballyhegan in the heart of the orchard county of Armagh. It offers places to children from Primary 1 to Primary 7. We also have excellent links with our feeder nursery and playgroup Orchard Preschool.

Application forms for new P1 places are available online from the Education Authority and information on application forms for other year groups is available through contacting the school office.Parents may visit the School by arranging an appointment with the Principal. A Catholic ethos is fostered throughout the school and a caring pastoral system ensures that strong links are nurtured between home, parish and the school.
The Friends of St Oliver Plunkett's Primary School are a small group of parents of children presently at our school. They are assisted by a few others and they organise and run discos and other events to raise additional funds for the school. In 2020/21 Mrs Claire Murphy is the Chairperson, Mrs Patricia McGrane is secretary and Mrs Monica McDonnell is Treasurer.
Ballyhegan Davitts GAC is situated quite close to St Oliver Plunkett's Primary School. The children from the school can become involved with playing for their local club from Primary 1 onwards. The school has had a long association with the Ballyhegan Davitts. We have hosted our annual football blitz tournaments at Ballyhegan Davitts GAC from 2008.
There is an active school council at St Oliver Plunkett's Primary School. Representatives from Primary 4 to Primary 7 meet regularly to discuss the work of the school and to give ideas for future development. The school council allows children to have a voice and an input into how the school is run.
