On behalf of all the children, staff and Governors, I'd like to warmly welcome you to the school website. Our aim is to educate children to the highest levels during their early years, while staying true to our values & ethos. We are a school that likes to celebrate success at every level. The life of the school is driven by enthusiasm and a desire to achieve.
We promote learning that is active and creative and encourage children to embrace challenge and celebrate success. Our curriculum is purposefully broad and children have opportunities to participate in a wide range of cross-curricular activities as well as in music, performance and sport.

Mount Saint Catherine's is a modern school with a long tradition, first founded by the Society of the Sacred Heart in 1851. We are a community school in an urban environment, centrally located in the ecclesiatical capital of Ireland with it's rich history and tradition. We are centrally located on a large site that we share with St Catherine's College, on Mount Saint Catherine, from where we can see the whole city-scape of Armagh.
The school population continues to grow each year and the pupils continue to represent a diverse range of backgrounds. This reflects the general welcoming ethos that is a key feature of Mount St. Catherine's and is enshrined within the ethos of Sacred Heart Schools at large.
The development of our ethos is key and this involves the Sacred Heart goals which are very important and underpin all that we do in the course of our work and our relationships. This year the goal is 'Faith.' The main school building comprises classrooms, a number of small teaching rooms, a library, a central hall, resource areas, a prayer room, a restaurant and we have now a fully fitted ICT suite on the bottom floor with 32 laptops.

The Sacred Heart Network of schools has been inspired by the 'Heritage and Horizon' document. Each year we focus on one of the five goals. Staff, parents, governors and pupils will be examining how we best develop a sense of Faith lived with joy within and beyond our school. Further details on this focus on how it is addressed will be forthcoming in a variety of ways.
As you know our school has been involved in the Welcoming Schools Project. This project has enabled the school to look at how welcoming we are and to enhance and develop this area further. We are now in our second year of the project and it comes to an end in June. Over the next few months your child will be involved in many class activities as part of the Welcoming Schools project e.g.
Starting with eight children, it has now grown to the full capacity of 26 children per day. Little Buds is a community run playgroup, with members including parents and members of Mount St Catherine's P.S. It is registered through Southern Health and Social Services. At present, there are three qualified members of staff.
