Oakwood is one of the longest-established nurseries in South Lanarkshire, with a reputation for excellence and innovation. View the Cottage, our custom-built centre for younger children, and our Pre-School Centre, housed in a lovely Victorian villa on Lochbrae Drive. You can also see our extensive, all-weather garden and play equipment.
We believe that it is vital to foster a close relationship with nature and the outdoors, and there is nothing that the children love more than space to run and play. Find out more about our outdoor programme. Learn about our history, ethos and our commitment to serving the community for over 20 years.

Services
At each end of the cottage is a multi-function room, used for lunch and snack breaks as well as a vast range of messy play experiences that the children love. For older and more confident children, we have the Rainbow Room. Walking more confidently and progressing with their speech, the children in here have access to larger play equipment and more advanced play activities.
We believe that time spent out-of-doors is vitally important to the health and well-being of every child. Time spent outdoors is a vital part of learning, and we aim to cultivate respect and wonder for the world around us. This might mean learning about plants and animals, encouraging STEM skills through water play and construction, or making ephemeral art with natural, found materials.
These days, we care for over 120 children every day at our campus on Lochbrae Drive. Many children are with us from birth and often we look after two, three and four children from the same family. We have served the areas of Burnside, Cathkin, Rutherglen and Cambuslang for over 20 years, but have also received pupils from other areas on the south side of Glasgow.
The nursery is open Monday to Friday all year, including public holidays. Before children start at Oakwood, we arrange some settling-in visits - normally three visits of increasing length. These will be agreed with parents depending on the needs of the child. These visits are free and are very beneficial in helping a child settle in to the nursery.
