THE most expensive auctioneer in the country - probably the world - at 38.4% buyers commission !! Beggars belief... Makes Christies and Sotheby's look cheap. Pure GREED - being on TV has gone to Mr Hanson's head and he thinks he can get away with it because he's 'famous' and people will just LOVE to shower money at him for the privilege of buying items and hearing his voice. I don't how desperate I am to own an item he has for sale I would not buy it as a matter of principle. This is not a good place for vendors - the ridiculous commission deters buyers from bidding too high - Be careful Charlie

I was recently successful in bidding on a lot with a hammer price of £800. I understood prior to bidding that I could expect to pay 25% commission, plus Saleroom commission/internet charges of 7% plus vat, and postage of £20 plus vat which seemed reasonable. However, after they have shipping or receiving lots into their London saleroom, they then have the audacity, without making it clear in the pre-auction information that they charge an additional £12 to have the items shipped from London to their postal offices. This is petty, should be made clearer to potential bidders and is completely

There are a wide selection of sales spread across the year. There is a mix of specialist and general sales. All of the lots are populated onto the online website though it is nice to pop in and have a good root around to get a feel for what you may like to bid on. There are plenty of staff on site to get answers to any of your questions.

I sold stuff in January. Got a sales advice and was told money in my account within 20 days - was it NO. Does he reply to emails NO. Spoken once on phone - thinks because he is on tv he can get away with whatever he feels like. Don’t sell your treasures through this man. An unreliable person, rude and unhelpful on the phone. Utterly incapable of any sort of customer service - useless.
It’s now March so thought I would update the above. Shambolic Customer Service. Doesn’t return calls. Still waiting for money. Absolute disgrace.
