Very poor experience. Bought a glass item online, when I received it there were chips on the rim and the base. There was absolutely no mention of this damage AT ALL. The two pictures Bamfords put online did not show the damage either. It was so obvious and integral to the value of the piece I am surprised that a photo was NOT included so that customers could make an informed decision, rather than the two poor ones that were uploaded. One wonders how such a mistake, where damage to an item that could not be viewed in person, could take place from an auction house!!! This is supposed to be a professional

Have been friends with James Lewis and Bamfords for ages. They have been ceaselessly helpful, generous with their time and, for my charity, given services that go above and beyond. They are my first port of call for any questions I have involving antiques. Thank you and best wishes to you all. Stay safe. Will

Bamfords have been at the forefront of efforts to end the trade in ivory, which is so important if we are to end the poaching of elephants and prevent them from disappearing across much of their remaining range. Bamford's stance has been exemplary in this respect and they should be highly commended for it.

Bamford's Auctioneers cheated me by selling me a broken lot that did not include the damage in the description. They said I should have looked at the small print. To make matters worse, their courier, Post-it Chartwell, then sent me lots from Bamfords that got broken in transit and refused to pay me a refund even though they said they would. They… just changed their mind and quoted more small print. This was after I sent the damaged item back. Dreadful service. I will never trust an auction house again after the way they have patronised me and been so dishonest.

I recently bought a chandelier from auction and due to the unforeseen weather I was not able to collect it straight away.. Having suffered by the recent flooding and already under pressure caused by this, the staff went beyond their duties to ensure that I was kept up to date. I would like to thank the staff at Bamfords for going out of their way to ensure that I was looked after. Your team are truly amazing! Thank you

Feels like they're dishonest in their listings, deliberately refraining from detailing faults. If you're buying on the Internet BEWARE. They do not list faults in the items as other auction houses do. They have one photograph and maintain it's your responsibility to ask for a condition report prior to bidding. I bought a few items, two of which had repaired faults on them that were barely visible on the one photo and weren't mentioned in the listing. One item was photographed in such a way as to conceal the large crack - angled away from the lens.

They are crooks and thieves preying on worldwide bidders who cannot see the lots in person. You ever win an item through a Live Auctioneers auction house member and when you receive it, it has damage that wasn't mentioned and they refer you to their "small print" section in their policies which states that it is your responsibility to ask if an… item has damage. I got a 17th century silver cup from them and paid a lot of money for it. When I opened up the package here in The US, I was shocked and in complete disbelief as to what I was looking at. The cup was completely destroyed "from antiquity

Bamfords has loads of good quality pieces. What's more, the staff on the ground are AMAZING. They are all so friendly and helpful, and will carry everything for you right to your car and even load it in. They are wonderful. I have not sold anything here, so can't describe that, but as a buyer it is worth visiting.
