At Tyldesley Vets we have a fantastic veterinary team. We have a diverse team of small animal vets and we encourage case and client continuity. This means that we are happy for you to request to see a particular vet or the vet that has been dealing with your pets problem or illness. We offer affordable, total veterinary care with on-site digital x-ray, ultrasound, dental equipment, eye pressure reading and a modern theatre.
We know that your pets are part of your family and deserve the very best care. TPLO is the abbreviation for tibial plateau levelling osteotomy. This a surgical procedure used to treat cranial (or anterior) cruciate ligament rupture in the knee joints of dogs. It involves changing the angle of the top of the shin bone (the tibial plateau) by cutting the bone, rotating it, and stabilising it in a new position with a plate and screws.

Services
We are a family-run veterinary practice with a fantastic team of veterinary surgeons. Our Vets have a combined experience of over 30 years' in veterinary care. We offer total veterinary care with on site digital x-ray, ultrasound, dental equipment, endoscope, gastroscope eye pressure reading and our comprehensive in house laboratory.
Gareth qualified as a veterinary surgeon in 2001 in South Africa and has been working as a small animal Veterinary Surgeon since. He obtained his certificate in soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery in 2011. His Special interests include soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery, internal medicine and oncology.
We are located on a main road running through Tyldesley town centre which is easily accessible by road, public transport and on foot (map here). Although we don't have our own car park there is a car park located across the road from us behind Heron foods. There is also a bus stop right outside our building and we are just a short 5 minute walk from the Guided Busway.
One of the oldest and most common forms of diagnostic imaging is radiography (also called x-ray). Here at Tyldesley Veterinary Centre we are equipped with a digital x-ray processor.
This means instead of using traditional film, like in an analog camera, that needs to be manually developed in chemical solutions, we can speedily upload our x-ray images to a specialised computer that not only provides improved image quality, but also allows us to enhance these images.Digital x-ray gives vets more information to aid in diagnosis of many health conditions.

In our in-house laboratory we have a range of equipment which allows us to run tests to help with the diagnosing of our patients. Blood - to identify parasitic infections, clotting disorders or any significant changes in morphology. Skin - to show parasites such as demodex, mites and fleas. We also examine the cells from various lumps and bumps to help determine the type of growth.

My dog recently had a big operation on her throat at Tyldesley Vets. Gareth and the team have been wonderful with her and the aftercare she received was exceptional .We are so grateful to each and every one of them. Our little dog is back home and doing well now and I can’t thank them enough for the treatment and care she was given . I doubt she would have had the same care anywhere else ,I would recommend this practice 100 per cent !

Very helpful over the phone to get my two cats registered after moving house. I took my younger cat in today to be spayed and the vet was very reassuring as I was quite nervous. She didn't push me to opt for the blood test which is only useful for older cats, most vets would have played on my emotions to get that for more money but she recommended that it wasn't needed, but had to offer it. They called to check if they could put her microchip in while she's already under and let us know she's fine, thus ensuring we don't have to go through taking her in and deal with the worry of her being put
