Kings Road Nursery School
At Kings Road, we aim to create a warm and welcoming Nursery School environment, where every child is valued. We place children at the heart of everything we do - and it is so important to us that they are happy, confident and feel safe at Nursery. We celebrate all achievements and successes, and we recognise that every child is unique and on their own special learning journey.

We are fortunate to have a wonderful nursery school environment with a fantastic outdoor area. The children are outdoors every day and we are big believers in the importance of playing in nature, which encourages confidence, resilience and a sense of adventure in our little learners! All of the staff at Kings Road Nursery School are completely committed to providing the highest quality of pre-school education for all children in our care.
Services
Our School is situated on Melfort Drive, just off the Kings Road in the Tullycarnet area of Belfast. We have 52 full time places for children in their pre-school year. The school is run and funded as part of the Education Authority. We have a Teaching Principal and fully qualified teacher, as well as a team of highly qualified support staff.
All parents receive a copy of the school's Child Protection Policy for Parents as part of the induction process. Any parent who wishes to read the full policy may request to do so. There is also a copy of a 'How to Raise a Child Protection Concern' flow chart displayed in both entrance areas of the school.
At Kings Road, we are committed to being as environmentally responsible, we have recently been awarded a prestigious Eco-Schools Green Flag by the environmental charity Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful. The Eco-Schools Programme is the world's largest Environmental Education programme and aims to make environmental awareness and action an intrinsic part of the life and ethos of a school.
Here you will find information about how we are teaching the children within the six pre- school curriculum areas. We refer to our themes as 'overarching themes' as we tend not to adhere to them rigidly throughout the month - we follow the children's lead and we are flexible and reflective in our approach to planning.
We are delighted to have been recognised as an official Forest School by the Northern Ireland Forest School Association (NIFSA). Forest School is an exciting initiative which aims to get children outside enjoying and exploring the world around them. The children will be taking part in a series of regular forest school sessions within our own school grounds.
