We aim to promote the development of happy, secure, confident children who are motivated to be independent in their learning. We believe that the purpose of nursery education is to provide effective and active learning experiences which equip children with the skills, knowledge and understanding for lifelong learning.
We will nurture them to have a respect for themselves, others and the world around them within the caring and supporting ethos which permeates our School. We promote strong partnerships with parents to support children in realising their full potential. Opened in 1969, Victoria Nursery is a purpose built nursery, traditionally catering for the needs of pre-school children in the local area and beyond.

Victoria Nursery School is a 'Silver Award Winner' in the Eco Schools Northern Ireland initiative. This award has been given in recognition of our achievement in working towards a sustainable environment. Our Autumn visit to Belvoir Park is a lovely day out that kick starts a yearlong programme focusing on the World Around Us.
Education Minister, Peter Weir and Valerie Watts, Interim Chief Executive of the Public Health Agency, are encouraging more nominations for this year's awards. The Derrytrasna Pastoral Care Award provides recognition to school communities that have demonstrated exceptional co-operative effort in supporting the pastoral care of pupils and their families.
