Perhaps you are experiencing stress, low-self esteem, trauma, bereavement or depression? If so, psychotherapy could be used to help you gain self-acceptance, and a deeper understanding of what makes you 'tick' and what doesn't. Psychotherapy is typically a weekly meeting of fifty minutes, often over a medium to long term.
With time and commitment, the client and therapist aim to build what may be called a 'therapeutic alliance' that allows the client to feel able to safely explore and eventually understand and come to terms with difficult thoughts, feelings and experiences (both current and past.) There is no 'prescription' or quick and easy way to feel better or differently in therapy.

Services
I offer an open and confidential space where you can explore any issue that you wish to bring. This may be a current difficulty that you are experiencing, something connected to the past, or perhaps challenging feelings you are having that you would like to explore and better understand.
I am an integrative therapist and work in a collaborative way, this means that we will work together whilst I will always respect the fact that the only expert on yourself - is you!I believe in the importance of recognising all of the elements that make a person - mental, physical and spiritual.

There is no 'typical' timeframe. For some, a single session is helpful. For others, therapy can be over a period of many years with breaks and different therapists. I am an integrative therapist and incorporate a variety of theories and approaches as a foundation to the work. One of my main beliefs is that we are all of equal value and importance with no two clients being the same or suiting any one particular approach.
As a UKCP registered therapist in training in my fourth year of a six year MA course at BCPC in Bath, I am able to offer low-cost therapy. My fee is 30 per 50 minute session. I abide by the UKCP ethical framework. I attend regular clinical supervision and carry appropriate professional liability insurance.

Alan is a brilliant teacher and has made every effort to continue lessons despite the challenges of lockdown over the past few months. I have picked up playing again at an intermediate level after several years of not playing at all and have seen significant progress in my ability and confidence. Alan has a fantastic technical knowledge of music and has helped me to develop pieces beyond the notes written on the sheet music and broaden my overall understanding of key signatures and the general makeup of music - would really recommend if you are looking for a new teacher!
