Dr Elaine Beaumont Within Worsley Centre For Psychotherapy
I am a psychotherapist, specialising in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), compassion focused therapy (CFT) and eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR). I am also a lecturer in counselling and psychotherapy at the University of Salford. I am co-author of the bestselling books The Kindness Workbook (Dr Elaine Beaumont & Dr Mary Welford) and The Compassionate Mind Workbook (Dr Chris Irons & Dr Elaine Beaumont).

I provide individual and group psychotherapy, bespoke professional training, supervision, consultation and workshops. I work with a variety of organisations who are passionate about offering supportive workplace environments that enhance staff wellbeing. My research explores the impact Compassionate Mind Training has on people working in the helping professions and on people who have experienced trauma.
Services
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a talking therapy. CBT can help people who are experiencing a wide range of mental health difficulties. The way we think can affect how we feel emotionally and physically, which can influence how we behave. CBT helps individuals to examine thoughts and beliefs and aims to help people understand how our thoughts, feelings and behaviour are interconnected and can trap us in vicious cycles.
My academic and research interests focus on therapeutic interventions for trauma, compassion in healthcare, knowledge, theory and practice of counselling and psychotherapy, mental health provision, and the importance of practitioner self-care. It was fantastic day and Elaine managed to hold the group together in a nurturing and calm way.
Our bodies and hormones change as we grow, usually at the same time as important decisions about our future need to be made. We often put extra pressure on ourselves, compare ourselves unfavourably to others and excessively worry about what they think. Add in social media, exams, interviews, peer pressure, celebrity culture and everyday stressors, and it's no wonder our wellbeing can take a nosedive.
