I hope you find the information on our site useful but please remember it's no substitute for talking to us (if you need our help) or visiting us (if you are considering a place for your child). Our school aims are best summarised by our motto, 'Inspired to Achieve'. During their time with us, we will inspire children to achieve across all areas of the curriculum - as scientists, artists, historians and writers (to name but a few).
Reading sits at the heart of our curriculum and we aim for every child to develop a love of books and a fascination with the new worlds and information books open up to them. From their first days in Reception, children learn about our values and how these inform their attitudes, behaviour and relationships with others.

Services
Our school aims are best exemplified by our motto, 'Inspired to Achieve'. We want to inspire every child to achieve in all areas of life and learning from trying new sports and activities through to solving complex mathematical problems. We have agreed three core values which we believe capture the attitudes and behaviours necessary for every child to experience success.
As a Local Authority (LA) maintained school, all our admissions are handled by South Gloucestershire Local Authority. If you are considering a place at Wheatfield, we would strongly encourage you to come and visit our school before applying for a place. If your child is starting school and you are interested in a Reception place, we hold a number of 'open days' each year which are detailed below.
At Wheatfield Primary we are proud to be a multi-cultural school. We have a thriving and diverse community which welcomes children and their families from all over the world, including Poland, Romania, Pakistan, China, India and Egypt.
Around a third of our children have English as an Additional Language (EAL) and therefore we work hard to ensure that they are well supported to access the curriculum, enjoy school life and reach their full potential. Our EAL Teaching Assistant provides intervention sessions and classroom support to those children who require extra help.

Most of the information within our prospectus is available on this website. Unlike many schools, we continue to write (and print) an annual prospectus for new families to provid a brief introduction to our school. If you have any additional questions please call or email and we will be happy to help.
At Wheatfield we want to make sure that every child's voice is heard as we plan for their future and develop our school. Our School Council and Eco-Council are an elected group of children who represent their class, attend meetings, seek opinions and plan events. What is Eco School? The Eco-Schools programme is an international initiative that encourages pupils to engage with environmental and sustainable development issues.

Local residents are unhappy at the street being cluttered by the school drop, often with engines left running and illegal parking, including encroaching on private driveways. This sometimes creates high levels of roadside pollution. Responsible parents arrange to walk pupils into the school instead. Periodically, the street is patrolled by an ANPR car and parking fines issued.

I am quite new to Wheatfield school but have already seen how happy my grandson is and how he loves school and all that goes with it.
He occasionally goes to breakfast and after school clubs and really looks forward to it.....we recently helped with a school grounds day and got a great deal from it...
The staff are very approachable and it is great to read the regular newsletters to keep up with day to day achievements ....
