Chippenham Park Bowls Club is situated in Chippenham's well maintained John Coles Park. The money to buy land for a facility to be used by the people of Chippenham was bequeathed by Mr John Coles, several times Mayor of Chippenham. The Bowls Green is Council owned but is very well maintained by the Council's Park Staff.
The green has been established since 1923 and it is believed that Welsh Miners were heavily involved in the ground works. We are a mixed club competing in all the Wiltshire Leagues plus we encourage members to enter external tournaments as our ambassadors. We have a full and varied fixture card, thanks to our fixture secretaries, some mixed, some men or ladies only, which fills out the season.

Services
The aim of the game is simple. Get your bowls as close as possible to a small white ball called the 'jack'. It might sound easy, but the fact that the bowls do not travel in a straight line seriously adds to the tactical challenge. Bowls can be played indoors or outdoors, and the rules are the same, with top stars from both formats coming together to play lawn bowls at the Commonwealth Games.

We play bowls at John Coles and it's very pleasant when you can hear the summer weekly band in the back ground. The swings etc are very popular and it's great to see the children enjoying the splash pad. The cafe is first class with tasty coffee and treats. Also being served with a smile is lovely. Full marks for John Coles Park.
