The reformer is the most commonly used piece of pilates equipment. Through the use of a series of pulleys, resistance springs and a moveable carriage pilates exercises can be made more or less challenging for the inidividual. The 55 minute long session will simply speed by as you burn calories and bulid core strength.
Private sessions at Activate Pilates are in our private basement studio where we have a Pilates reformer/tower, split pedal chair and arc barrel. Along with small pilates equipment such as stability balls and exercise bands.
A private session will be tailored to your requirments and can therefore be great if you are recovering from an injury and need to slowly build up strength and control or if you are looking for a different or more advanced challenge.Sessions can also be designed for ante-natal clients using a mixture of the large equipment and matwork exercises which are all adapted to be suitable for the ante-natal period.

Your Personal Training can include any of our Pilates equipment but we also have access to free weights, an exercise bike, TRX suspension trainers, a BOSU, medicine balls, kettlebells, swiss balls, boxing padwork and the great outdoors. So we can definitely find something that will suit you and get you the results you are looking for.
Steve is a STOTT PILATES Certified Instructor in Matwork and Reformer. He has taught reformer based Pilates since 2006. Steve is a friendly and enthusiastic trainer, and loves to ensure you get the most out of your sessions. Steve is also a qualified personal trainer through Premier Training, with additional skills in Kettlebells, suspension training and boxing through the Ricky Hatton Academy.
Just after you have turned into the park you will go over a speed bump with bus shelters on either side, and then about 100m further on there is a turning to the right. Take this turning. Free parking is available directly in front of our building on a small driveway leading down to two white doors for private sessions (the first picture below).

If you want an excellent reformer pilates workout, come here - they do a whole variety of reformer workouts and they do matwork too,limited numbers mean more one to one attention. Alex and Steve have great teaching styles, making us laugh tends to add that extra level of intensity to the exercises - I woudnt go anywhere else. *****

I enjoy and feel the ‘enriching’ power of every single one of Steve's classes that I attend! Activate Pilates is one of my absolute favourite places in Cambridge. Time flies by while you work on your core, length and strength, listening to Steve's instruction, (good!) humour, and soundtrack. I cannot recommend the classes highly enough. You won't find any better in Cambridge.
