As a charitable organisation our Care Homes are run for the benefit of the residents, not for profit. We welcome residents from all over the Southend Area as well as those from the wider Essex area and London Boroughs. The Southend-on-Sea Darby & Joan Organisation is a charity formed in 1947 for the sole purpose of providing care to the elderly.
As such our homes are run for the benefit of our residents and are not for profit. At our Residential Care Homes we care for residents who require basic assistance with activities of daily living through to those with more complex needs and those living with Dementia.

I have visited my Mum at St Martin's Care Home twice now, since she moved there recently and am so happy how well she has settled in and how happy she is.
The Manager and Carers/staff are so dedicated and the Carers are so welcoming, when visiting my Mum.
They go out of their way to be kind and caring and are always very curtious ,when calling by phone or visiting.
My Mum often tells me in conversation how the Carers are so good and work so hard and how she enjoys the food and activities.
This is so reassuring and makes me so happy.
It is lovely to see my Mum and the other Residents receiving

My father in law has been in this home since November 2015. The staff are superb and so patient. The care manager is compassionate and runs the home well. The residents are well looked after and staff try hard to respect their dignity in every day tasks. My father in law did not like the food to begin with but I know that that is has been replaced with another supplier and improved greatly. The manager has worked hard to improve on the CQC ratings and we are pleased to see that the hard work has not been in vain as the last CQC report showed huge leaps in how well the home was run.
