There are times in everyone's life when problems and issues arise that are difficult to cope with. For many different reasons you may not be able to share your feelings, hopes and fears with anyone else, especially those closest to you. This can be a very lonely, stressful and isolating experience from which there sometimes seems no escape.
Counselling offers you a place and time aside from everyday life to explore aspects of your life which you are finding troubling or challenging. It is the opportunity to talk with a trained professional in confidence about any issues that cause you concern.

My name is Sally Mitchell, and twenty years ago I went to see a counsellor for Depression. That experience was an amazing one for me, and started me on a path towards personal growth and fulfilment which continues to transform my life. Some years later, I began my counselling training.
I am now a qualified Person-Centred Counsellor and Psychological Coach and attained my post-graduate Diploma, Masters Degree and CBT Certificate at the University of East Anglia. My training, professional and personal development work is ongoing, and like all professional therapists, my counselling work is regulated by a qualified external supervisor.

Coaching is a powerful and dynamic process that takes you through a series of stages, resulting in you achieving your goals much more quickly than you would on your own. Through working with a coach, firstly you will achieve greater clarity of what you want from your future.
Secondly you will gain insights into what may be hindering your progress, from doubts and fears to lack of knowledge, so that you can either remove the limitations or devise ways for moving through or around the blocks.Coaching is carried out through regular conversations on a one-to-one basis, and may be carried out face-to-face or on the telephone.

Counselling sessions are 45 per hour; sessions are usually one hour long, however longer or shorter sessions can be agreed between us if necessary. We will usually meet regularly once a week. Coaching sessions are 45 per hour, and 22 per half hour. It is usual to begin with a one-hour session, and to continue with half-hour sessions once a week to review progress, maintain motivation and reassess goals.
I felt that I had found the place to come to get the help I needed and that someone would be working with me and supporting me. I felt relieved that I wasn't doing it on my own. The balance was just right. I felt I was getting a friendly and helpful listener who knew how to offer help in a very professional manner and someone who made me think about what I was experiencing in a different way, from a different perspective.
I believe that supervision should be a supportive and collaborative process in which the supervisee can feel supported, encouraged and gently challenged to grow and improve in their clinical practice. My supervision model is reflective, integrative, creative, supportive and informative and will help you explore the counselling process and to develop the way in which you create a therapeutic relationship with your clients.

As a person in the early 20s I've found myself struggling with adapting to the full adult life. Changing lots of different environments in a short period of time made me feel like I've lost my inner compass. In the same process I developed some negative thoughts and anxiety, building myself a life where everyone and everything triggered in me anger and frustration. For some it may not be a major issue, but for me it was. I couldn't get any joy out of anything, just living a monotonous and angry life. I decided that I needed to change that, so I contacted Sally. She was a professional from the beginning

I was very unsure about going back to counselling after having gone before and really not achieving anything and feeling that no-one got ME...
So after some researching and recommendations I decided to contact Oak Leaf Counselling ... what can I say ...the best thing I ever did... Sally ...
someone who finally gets ME, understands ME and has given ME the best advice , solutions and tools to use to help ME.
Would absolutely recommend Oak Leaf Counselling to anyone who is struggling to make that step.

I found Sally really easy to talk to and it felt easy to build a safe and nurturing relationship to explore my thoughts with her. Sally was able to help me rationalise my thoughts and feelings in a successful effort to help me understand what I can do to improve my relationships with myself and others. I would highly recommend spending some time with Sally if you find yourself in a place where you just need to make sense of your thoughts, improve your mental health and find a way to move forward with your life with the aim of enhancing your psychological trajectories. I truly feel like I am now

I had some psychological problems following a car crash that left me struggling with lots of things that had previously felt 'normal'. Sally has helped me work back to being able to do most of these things again and stop holding myself back in daily life and enjoyment. My anxiety levels are far lower now and the techniques I've got in my toolbox to go forward are things I'll use throughout life.

I would like to recommend Sally for her great support that she has given me. I was recommended to Sally after struggling to cope with the loss of my mother. In the time I have spent with Sally she has given me the tools and knowledge to move forward and deal with my loss in a way that is less painful and more in a way that I can control. I have learnt so much from the sessions I’ve had and never thought how much I would take away my time with sally. I am definitely in a stronger space now .

My 'perfect' world turned upside down 4-5 years ago. A younger member of my family sought counselling close in vicinity to where they lived at the time and they benefited hugely from the help. I thought (in error) that my previous confident personality would be able to cope and see 'it through. How wrong was I ? Time and time again i found myself coming up short. Eventually, a few months ago, I decided i needed help with the way I was thinking and I contacted Sally. I feel a huge weight has now been lifted from my shoulders. A weight that i have been carrying around for far too long. I have come

A few months ago I found myself in a very dark hole. Always the strong one, I thought I could pick myself up and work things out on my own like always. This time was different, I was experiencing the worst time of my life, I sank deeper and deeper and realised I was stuck and finally admitted I needed help.
I had tried counselling a couple of times before, over the phone though, I really didn't take to it. I didn't think it helped at all so I knew I needed to find something different this time but I didn't quite know what I needed or what there actually was on offer therapy wise.
I googled a few

Sally is very welcoming and puts you at ease. I felt very comfortable engaging with Sally and I am in a better place now than when I started. She gave me the knowledge and tools to help me. My sessions have finished now and I know that if I am struggling she will be available for further support. It's daunting asking for help and admitting you have an issue but it's liberating working through it and realising how far you have come.
