You no longer need to book a ticket to visit but please be aware we may need to manage visitor numbers during busy periods. Have a look at our latest instalment of 'Sustainable Stories' here, which describes how we used to shop before supermarkets. Learn more about the museum's walled garden, and the amazing community involvement that made the project possible.

Absolutely fabulous for kids. With a 4 and 5 year old, who loved the dinosaur bones and mammoth tusks. They were fascinated by the drawers full of bugs, flints and other treasures.
We loved the secret garden and after you step out into the beautiful Stratford Park.

Didn't get an experience. No dogs allowed. Disappointing when you are on holiday but just head straight over to Prinknash Abbey, not far away. Great cafe, takes dogs and lovey area to walk.

It's a like a Tardis - so much more to see than you could possibly imagine in such a small building. Welcoming staff and volunteers as well. Beautiful walled garden outside, thoughtfully designed and cared for.

Fabulous evening spent at the museum on 29/7/2021. Jon Buck sculpture exhibition open and classical guitar music from James Watson in The Walled Garden. Beautiful venue and lovely friendly folk running it all. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Really friendly staff with some interesting displays. The highlight for me were the coins dating from Anglo-Saxon to present. The rest was, let’s say, underwhelming. However, it was free and was nice to walk around as something to do in Stroud.

We visited the garden rather than the museum and really enjoyed it. While still developing in spring, you could definitely see how beautiful it will be in a few weeks. Also met a very kind and knowledgeable volunteer who told us a lot about the house and the garden. We also picked up some of their plants for sale to take home. Well worth a visit.

Wonderful exhibits and collection. The labeling is well done and understandable, while not being in the way of items on display. As a museum professional in the States I was really impressed. The staff is very friendly too!
