The Saxon Arms is a beautiful thatched flint-stone pub, set in the rural pretty village of Stratton, in West Dorset. Run by landlord and landlady Rod and Janette Lamont - who have over 40 years experience in the trade - and supported by a loyal and well-trained staff team, it has long established itself as the hub of the local community and one of the best dining pubs in the county.
3 chargrilled cutlets and a mini shepherds pie, served with a medley of seasonal vegetables and a red currant reduction. With a carrot and swede mash, creamy Savoy cabbage with bacon lardons, Dauphinois potatoes and a rich cider sauce. With sauted leeks, creamy mash potato, topped with a crispy poached egg and served with a chive beurre blanc.

Fantastic place which I would definitely recommend everyone if they get the chance to give it a try. The food was amazing and the service outstanding. We are visiting this area from Kent and a friend recommended the Saxon Arms to us when we were looking for a place to get a great steak in a nice pub garden.. and we are so glad we tried out their recommendation. Hopefully we will be going back tomorrow.
