Smugglers Inn
Situated on the cliff tops of the South West Coast Path, just outside the village of Osmington, the Smugglers Inn is a traditional English pub with stunning views overlooking the Isle of Portland. The headquarters of the French smuggler Pierre Latour and one of the main landing places for smuggled goods in the 17th century, the Inn was originally built in the 13th century, with its own brewery at the rear.

In 2016, Hall & Woodhouse spent 250k to shore up the walls of the small stream that runs in front of the pub, which involved diverting it for four months and indeed because of coastal erosion, there's a good chance the Smugglers won't be with us by 2068, so enjoy it while you can!
Services
We've been working hard over the past few months to make sure all of our delicious food dishes are just that little bit better. As well as our usual favourites like Steak & Tangle Foot Pie, Hand-Battered Fish & Chips and our famous H&W Burger, we've also got a range of tasty sandwiches and of course our delicious Sunday Roasts, which we think are the best (apart from Mum's!).
We've scoured the world to find the best drinks available. With Badger beers which have been brewed in the heart of the Dorset countryside since 1777, lagers and wines from around the world, spirits and soft drinks you're guaranteed to find something to quench your thirst or get the evening off on the right note.
Welcome to the Smuggler's Inn one of Hall & Woodhouse's collection of beautiful Inns. All of our 4 rooms are nautically themed, en-suite and equipped with smart TV, digital radio and free Wi-Fi, as well as lovely teas, coffee and hot chocolate.

To ensure a great night's sleep all our beds have Sealy's super comfortable Pillow Honister Mattresses; the best mattresses in the world (you find them in the White House), with lavish layers of indulgent upholstery and Sealy's Bugshield - 100% effective in protecting against bed bug nasties (and completely skin-safe).Please note that, unfortunately, we will not be serving buffet breakfasts at the present time.
One of the delights of the perfect English Country pub is that it is at the heart of it's community a place where people can come together. That's why we believe it's so important for us to give something back to our local community. Below are just a couple of things we do to help out in some small way.

Lovely dog friendly pub. Good food and selection of beers. A great place to finish a walk along the coast path. Gets very busy with walkers during the day especially if the weather is good.

We didn't book and arrived on Saturday lunch time. They found a table for us and there was none of that "you should have booked" there was a wait for our order which was well worth it for food made for us. Large portions, hot and great tasting.

Such a warm welcoming cosy pub. we sat in the snug enjoying coffee by the fire the other day, and tonight we came back for a lovely meal. excellent friendly service, and great food. Glad we got to experience it when it's nice and quiet and not in the middle of summer, when I'm sure the beer garden its extremely popular. fabulous place. thank you.

A warm welcome by Tom and the rest of the team. A really lovely place to stay. Room was quaint and the room to stay in due to size is no. 1 we were in no. 4 but loved it. The pub feels so relaxing. Breakfast was delicious and we stayed for dinner two nights. Will definitely be back.

At the end of the road into Osmington Mills you'll find a lovely sprawling pub, the Smuggler's Inn. There's a varied lunch menu, catering to seafood, red meat and vegetarian tastes, and lots of options when it comes to the beers on tap, including local Dorset brewery, Badger. Staff were friendly and it was a relaxing way point for plotting a coastal walk - the South West Coast Path runs just by the pub..

Lovely brief stop here today for a sandwich and a pint while walking the coastal path. Everything was excellent and I can highly recommend. Apologies again for the dog destroying the peace and quiet over turning the table and so good of you to replace our drinks! Hope to call again before heading back to Yorkshire at the weekend

Visited the Smugglers Inn multiple times and have always had a pleasant dining experience. Since the pandemic the outdoor seating has increased with nice undercover heated areas and comfortable furniture. The inside is picturesque with lovely open fires, excellent in the winter.
When visiting this bank holiday weekend, the food was of the usual great quality and the staff were friendly and energetic. Despite the triple-cooked chips and mushy peas tasting great, it would have been nice to receive a more generous portion.
Quaint and warming in the winter, lively and atmospheric in the summer. Worth
