The Barn Veterinary Practice was established by Robert and Lorna Hill in 1986, since then, we have taken great pride in providing first class veterinary care to our clients in a relaxed and friendly environment. The Copdock Surgery was designed and purpose-built within a converted Suffolk barn, to offer a very highly equipped, modern facility benefiting from a tranquil location only a few minutes from the centre of Ipswich.
As the practice grew, we expanded with the acquisition of the Ashcroft Road Surgery in 1989. From a team of two back in 1986 we have now grown to a team of over 25. To find out more about our staff, go to 'our staff' pages. Our policy is of continuous investment in modern equipment and ongoing training to keep abreast of changes in the rapidly advancing field of veterinary medicine.

Services
We have a team of seven veterinary surgeons dealing with the small animal caseload at our two surgeries, which are equipped to offer a full service to your pets, including consultations, diagnostic procedures and tests, surgical operations, dentistry, x rays, ultrasound scanning, preventative healthcare and Pet Passport issue.
We believe that nutrition is an important part of keeping pets healthy and can also play a vital part in the treatment of some illnesses. This is why we stock a select range of cat and dog pet food in practice, helping to take the faff out of pet food for our clients by recommending diets that have been scientifically created to provide optimal nutrition, which tastes great!
The Barn Veterinary Practice's equine team consists of five ambulatory equine vets, working out of our Copdock surgery, who provide a 24/7 service of veterinary care for your horse. As a first opinion equine practice we offer a number of services including vaccinations, consultations, dentistry, lameness work-ups to name a few.
Both our surgeries are equipped with modern laboratory machines to provide quick results from any blood tests your vet deems necessary. We also have an overnight courier service to a local laboratory for more complex tests, ensuring we can report your pet's test results as quickly as possible. Our Copdock surgery has a dedicated imaging suite complete with a digital x-ray machine, providing instant x-ray viewing and an ultrasound scanner.
At the Barn, we provide our own emergency service, 365 days a year. The current trend is for Veterinary Practices to contract out their Emergency Out of Hours Service to other providers. Here at The Barn Veterinary Practice we cover emergency out of hours cases at our own surgeries. We pride ourselves in always having a vet on call at every hour, day or night, 365 days a year.

Where do I start, I guess with the reception girls, first class, they all know me enough to know there are times when my medical conditions prevent me keeping my appointments, but they are so caring, nothing is to much bother, and their love for your pet is obvious to see thank you Girls... The Vets First class yet again, Barn Vets best I have ever worked with, so caring, when vet talks to you, they talk you in friendly way, they don't talk down to you, end of life care is second to none, I've been with Barn for years...Thank you All At Barn Vets Johnboy and Sasha

Incredible service. This is our pets forever Doctor. Very easy to join, super welcoming and fast relieve for a horrible situation. And to add to it a detailed report to help me feel at ease about a traumatic experience my pet and I had gone through. Thank you for helping us heal. And I only visited once.
