While the town sleeps, our bakery in the heart of historic Nantwich buzzes with activity. Through the night our craft bakers work to bring you the freshest cakes, bread and baked goods. Their traditional baking skills and cutting edge production techniques place them amongst the top bakers in the country.

Skills passed down from father to son ensure only the best hand-crafted products reach our shops by morning. We have been part of the local community for 4 generations, and where possible use local suppliers. By sourcing local milk and cheese, our products not only taste good but support the dairy industry on our doorstep here in Cheshire.

Great food here. Had one of their sausage rolls which was incredibly tasty. Staff really helpful and friendly.

Worst experience ever. Rude staff calling us names. The guy handling our food wasn’t wearing gloves and asked him politely if he could, told us he didn’t have any. So was handling all the food with no gloves after touching money and cupboards. One of the staff called us ‘fags’. Had no manners when she told us to leave saying we’d be ‘fined’- when my friend had just bought food from their place. Not recommending it to anyone in congleton. Very disappointed. On the other hand the staff in cafe next door were lovely.

Chatwins are based in Nantwich, and have been in Congleton since 1982. My wife worked there for ten years, leaving in 2003. The food today is as good as ever, in fact, the meat and potato pies are even better!
Since the refurbishment (2015?) they have a slightly smaller choice of cakes, but you can now get hot food to take out, for example a bacon bap or a hot beef sandwich. You can also get coffee and sit outside the shop in the main street (pedestrianised) and enjoy your food. I attend every Saturday and alway buy three gingerbread men for my grandchildren, and mother-in-Law has a white loaf

Excellent shop selling sandwiches, hot and cold plus food selection of other items to tempt the pallet. If the weather is suitable you can sit outside on one of the small tables. There is a good selection of food and drink to choose from whether you are going to eat there or take away.

Small cake shop which also sells pastries.

Being opposite the cheaper, and nicer bakehouse, i dont frequent this shop as often as some people do, but on the times when i do the food is satisfactory, although not necessarily worth the money you're paying. £3 for a sandwich, which barely fills the tiny plate isn't the best value, especially when across the road you can get a completely stuffed baguette for less money!

The cakes however are delicious, and make it worth a visit just to indulge yourself in a big pile cream, chocolate and cake!

Nice bakery patisserie, just across the way from the bakehouse. Both shops survive well though, as they sell very different class of items.

Chatwins espeically is very good for its celebartion cake department, although you certainly cant leave any plans til the last second, as it just wont be ready.

The cakes that i have ordered for birthdays etc have always been of a very high standard, and the recipeints always very grateful of a lovely tasting and looking cake!

They also do warm food and sandwiches and have an eat in section, as well as patio chairs and tables to eat al fresco.

Nice little bakery in centre of town, with an area for sitting in and eating, or the option of take out

Serves hot(pies, pastries) or cold food (sandwiches, salads).

Quite fair pricing, although i can never understand why eating in has to cost so much more when all you are doing is using a plate!

the cakes are especially lovely, and have a nice selection for kids.
