Services
Brighton Swimming School has been offering swimming lessons to both children and adults in Brighton for over 25 years, teaching over 1000 swimmers a week. Founded in 1988 by Paul Smith, Brighton Swimming School started as a small, one week intensive course that has slowly grown into the varied and successful programme you see today.
Brighton Swimming School is owned by Paul Smith, the company's Managing Director, who founded the swimming school in 1988. On a day-to-day basis, the Swimming Centre is run and managed by Freya Bolingbroke and supported by Jack & Joe in the Swim School Office. For our lessons, we have supervisors who manage poolside, ASA Level 2 Teachers who run lessons and ASA Level 1 Teachers who assist these teachers.
All of our lessons take place at our own pool at Brighton Swimming Centre, which is located on Eastern Road (Brighton; BN2 5JJ). The pool is independently owned by BSC and is 20m long by 8m wide. We can be easily reached by Buses 7, 1, 1a, 14c, 23, 47, 37 (a/b) and 40x - these are all just a short walk from either Chesham St. or St. Mary's Hall stops.
As well as our term-time Swim School lessons, BSS also offers five-day intensive courses throughout the year for both children and adults. Our intensives are great to fill up the school holidays with a healthy activity that boosts swimming ability and skills. We offer our intensive courses in ALL school holidays.
Suitable for: Adults with basic swimming skills but struggle with longer distances. Class Aims/Descriptions: to increase confidence in frontcrawl and backstroke and work on endurance. We also look at new water skills. Class Aims: whether its something more personal and tailored you are looking for, individual attention or to work on something specific with your swimming, 1:1/2:1 are a great way to meet these.

The best place to learn swimming in Brighton. The teachers and staff are professional and helpful however I found the staff who are working on Saturdays is more companionable. Especially, the girl who is in charge and organising us to get to the changing tents is extremely friendly. We did not like the female supervisor who is working on Sunday as being less helpful and unpleasant.

Highly recommend Brighton Swimming School for child and adult swimming lessons and courses. My son has learnt to swim with BSS and I have had adult lessons and joined the pool2pier course. The swimming pool has now re-opened (post COVID-19 lockdown), with health-and-safety / social distancing measures in place. These are well organised, and we saw them being effectively implemented by staff. Staff are present to greet you when you arrive and take your temperature. Face masks are worn by adults and those 11 and over. There is a one-way route through the building, and a reduced number of people in

Its been 10yrs now since I learnt to swim with BSS (adult classes) and it was by far the best decision. They were so patient and understanding and catered to everyone in the class separately so they could go at their own speed. Couldn't recommend them highly enough. You guys need a lot of credit for what you do.

My 6 years old was so scared due to dramatic past experience in the same swimming pool but thanks the wonderful teacher James she loves it now. He was kind, patient, supportive and professional to us. Because of this her fear of water is gone. I will highly recommend the Brighton swimming pool for kids who are not used to it and need encouragement. I hope they will be happy and satisfied as we are.

My two boys have been attending regularly for several years now .. what keeps us coming back is the quality of the teaching from the swim coaches ... Always multiple swim teachers, lifeguards and assistants in the water with little ones. Very professional setup. Changing rooms are cleaned and maintained very regularly. You can find slightly cheaper swim clubs but the teaching is usually voluntary from well meaning parents who don't always hold the qualifications.

My little girl, who's nearly 5, had always been a little indifferent with water and would often lose interest when we'd take her swimming so we decided to book her in for a weeks toddler course .
The first session didn't go to plan and she initially struggled but I put that down to lack of confidence and getting used to a new surrounding.
After the initial blip she didn't look back and due to the very caring and patient instructors, gained more and more confidence. She enjoyed it so much, we booked her in for another weeks course.

We've been attending the Swim School with our kids over many years - it's a great place. Today my daughter had her 9th Birthday party there.... for 15 friends. It was totally fantastic. A brilliant instructor led the games in the pool (including two children who couldn't swim well..... but you wouldn't have known it, they were helped along to join in with the rest). Then upstairs to a beautifully decorated room (banners and streamers and balloons) for party food - and a delicious cake (specially hand baked by one of the staff). The kids had such a great time - and totally stress free for the parents

I had been looking around for swimming lessons for my daughter when a friend recommended Brighton Swimming school.
When I made enquiries I found that the manager was very helpful & knowledgeable when discussing our options & the different swimming levels & progressions for my daughter, she made us feel very comfortable & welcome. My daughter recently started lessons at Brighton Swimming school & is very happy swimming here, I would definitely recommend! :-)

I recently joined the adult swimming lessons and the staff have been very supportive in building my confidence and helping me make progress on the areas that have been causing me problems (i.e. I'm no longer inhaling water!). I'm so happy with the swim school that I've now signed up two of my children for lessons here - they've just come back and both had a great time too and can't wait to go again.

Our Son has been swimming with Brighton Swimming School for a number of years now and loves it. The lessons are fantastic and there's a great viewing platform where parents get a birds eye view of the pool whilst being able to enjoy a coffee and fresh croissant from the onsite cafe. We've encountered all levels of staff during our time here who've ALL been knowledgeable, friendly and incredibly helpful creating a fun and vibrant learning environment for the children. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this school to anyone.
