Marc and Jan Newson welcome you to Canterbury House, for a comfortable and relaxing stay in their stylish en-suite guest accommodation, in the Regency town of Sidmouth, East Devon. Built in the early 1800's, Canterbury House sits in a lovely position close to the River Sid and the National Trust parkland 'The Byes'.
An easy and level 5 minute stroll takes you into the town centre with its excellent variety of shops, restaurants, pubs and cafe's and onto the picturesque Jurassic Coast seafront, where you can enjoy a walk along the unspoilt esplanade. Canterbury House is also perfectly situated for exploring the delights of the nearby villages and wonderful East Devon and Dorset countryside.

Great location, lovely owners and excellent breakfast!! Marc and Jan were the perfect hosts and made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay-they were very knowledgeable about the area and recommended places to visit and where to eat-very happy that they were Covid compliant so felt very safe during our stay

Excellent welcome very helpful and informative. Very Covid secure ensuring everything is cleaned and people are separated out as much as practicable.the room is well appointed with a beautiful king size bed and lovely ensuite with large shower. The breakfast has a large choice for all appetites we loved the smoked salmon with scrambled eggs on a muffin very tasty. Close walking distance to town and beach front. Parking limited and tight but owners very happy to move cars around as and when required.

We've just returned from a lovely stay at Canterbury House. Marc and Jan were perfect hosts - generous and thoughtful. Accommodation was clean, comfortable and centrally located. Breakfast was delicious with all tastes catered for. In fact, nothing was too much trouble. Additionally, Marc and Jan ensured that Covid 19 safety levels were adhered to whilst still providing excellent levels of service.

We visited in mid August 2020 during COVID-19 challenges. Marc and Jan were absolutely brilliant at making everything safe, without making too much of a fuss. The whole place was spotless and everything worked - such an unusual situation for a small B&B. Everyone was made to feel welcome.
Well located, some 8 minutes walk from the attractive town centre.
