Fernlea Cottage B&B is a bed-and-breakfast set in the Cheshire countryside, just 4 miles south of Chester (7 miles from Chester city centre). We have a 4-star Enjoy England grading. Fernlea Cottage has spacious gardens and plenty of offroad parking. It is in a peaceful location, with views over the surrounding fields.

We're really easy to get to and find - we're just off the A41 south of Chester, about 10 minutes from the M53 and the motorway network leading to England and North Wales. The rooms at Fernlea Cottage are comfortably furnished in neutral tones. Golborn room has an en-suite bathroom with shower, whilst Hatton room has exclusive use of a private bathroom.
Services
Check-in is from 4pm - 6pm and we request that guests please vacate their rooms by 10.00am on their day of departure, as we only have a short time to prepare the room between guests. Also, it helps if you can let us know your estimated time of arrival. Later arrival times can be accommodated subject to advance notice.
Vegetarians can choose from the above, or choose an alternative such as a freshly-cooked mushroom omelette. Breakfasts are usually served from 7.30am to 9.00am - let us know the time you would like your breakfast when you arrive. Eating out - we don't serve evening meals, but we're close to a number of excellent places to eat with a number of different cuisines.
Chester is full of things to see and do. It has a rich history, having been the major Roman centre in the north of Britain. The city walls are still intact, and make a great walk around the city. Chester is built on the River Dee - in fact, it was a major port for hundreds of years. Today, the Dee makes a picturesque setting for a stroll or a riverboat ride - or the more energetic can hire a rowing boat of their own!
We are as flexible as we can be about times of arrival and departure. It helps us if you can let us know your estimated time of arrival when you book. Pets - we're sorry, but we can't accommodate any pets. Places to eat - There is a wide choice of eateries around Fernlea Cottage, covering many cuisines.
Fernlea Cottage B&B is ideal for anyone looking for bed-and-breakfast accommodation close to either Rowton Hall Hotel or Peckforton Castle. We're less than a 15-minute drive from both venues, along traffic-free roads - and we can arrange taxis for you to make things even easier. For anyone choosing wedding venues in Chester or Cheshire, Rowton Hall Hotel just outside Chester will be near the top of the list.

Had a really good experience here, the bedroom was cozy and came with all the little creature comforts to make your stay better. The breakfast was a great full english although cereals and toast were also available. The hosts and their dog were very friendly and even accommodated a slightly earlier arrival. I paid by bank transfer as they don't have a chip and pin device and was cheaper than the mainstream hotels in the area. I would go back there if I were in the area, and recommend it to anyone who is going that way, I'd suggest that you book directly with them for the best rate.

Absolutely loved this B and B. Sally was the best hostess ever and rest of family lovely. Room very welcoming and comfortable. View across the fields wonderful. All fixtures and fittings of high quality and comfy bed. Breakfast was a special occasion and cooked beautifully. The table was set out as if for a special occasion using period crockery where appropriate. All produce inc. eggs, honey, yoghurt are home produced and other items are of quality. Location relatively easy though Google map spot on and plenty of parking. Only 15 minutes from Chester City centre. If there was ever a reason to

I stayed at Fernlea Cottage B&B during a training week in Tattenhall, Cheshire. Everything about Fernlea Cottage is wonderful. The bed was very comfortable, the room was cosy and included everything I needed, and the bathroom was clean and very functional - lovely hot water. The breakfasts were delicious and I was asked everyday what I would like for the following day. Fresh eggs and delicious bacon. Superb service and very friendly and welcoming owners. Thank you SO much.
