Ark Vets Centre
We are a modern friendly independent veterinary practice. Our aim is to give you and your pet the best treatment options available at an affordable cost in a relaxed and friendly environment. Our premises are modern and clean, we have all the most up to date equipment and expertise needed to use it, and our staff all genuinely love animals.

Whether you have a poorly kitten, a lame dog, a bald chicken or a sneezing tortoise, we will do our best to sort them out. Even if you just have a question about feeding or exercise, give us a call and we can give you whatever advice you need. We are especially excited about our new rehabilitation and hydrotherapy suite which allows us to offer many treatments, including underwater treadmill (below).
Services
Most animals, at some point in their lives will undergo a general anaesthetic. It may be for routine neutering, dental treatment, investigations (x-rays or biopsies) or even life saving surgery. Each time you will be asked to sign a consent form giving us permission to perform the procedure and listing potential complications (including death).
Your pet's annual vaccination is an important part of keeping them well, but it is much more than just a vaccination. It gives an opportunity for a full head to toe health check and time to discuss any issues such as training, feeding or any other questions you may have. Heart and Lungs - we listen to your pet's heart and lungs using a stethoscope.
As animals age, changes occur in their bodies. Some of these changes are familiar to us, eg arthritis affecting the joints, but in other parts of the body they may not be so obvious. The muscle in the heart may not pump so well, the cells in the intestines may not absorb food so well. The immune system will not be able to fight infection as well, and the healing process can take longer.
The basic principle of weight loss is simple. If you take in less calories than you use, you will lose weight. Unfortunately life is not always this simple and it can sometimes be difficult to dramatically reduce the amount of food your pet eats (e.g. with scavengers), or to increase their exercise (e.g. if they have arthritis).
There is a lot of confusion about how, when and what you should use to treat your pet for fleas, ticks and worms. Initially it can be broken down into young animals and adults. Puppies and kittens inherit roundworms from their mum (unless in the case of dogs, the mum is wormed daily from day 42 of pregnancy until 2 days after birth).

I am so lucky to have The Ark Veterinary Centre on my doorstep, The whole team are amazing and show such compassion to not only my animals over the years and my beloved Cat but also myself as they know i suffer with anxiety and health problems and are very kind in the way they talk through things with me. I would not use large chain vets because it is they tend to be about profit , but Ark care about the our pets who are indeed part of the family and my world x

Positive: Professionalism, Quality, Value
I am new to the vet after using and being very unhappy with a large local chain. This is a breath of fresh air lots of information and really good advice for my puppy Bronson. And as a bonus reasonably priced...

Just wanted to say a big thank you for the puppy check yesterday. It was lovely thing to give us a puppy pack. We have now had Amber for a week and having her checked over has given us peace of mind. We will always use arc for further check ups. Thanks again.

I was too hasty when i left my last review.my dog charlie has been ill for a while but she had to be put down today. She was 13 and a half so quite old for a female rottie. From the receptionist to the vet Holly and her assistant they were absolutely brilliant. They handled my devastating situation with complete professionalism and we're so caring. Thanks guys for all you did today.x
