Situated just outside Glossop on the edge of the stunning High Peak National Park, Hargate Hill boasts impressive facilities including its renowned equestrian centre, wonderfully tranquil coarse fishing lakes and fly fishing ponds. So whether you're looking to fish, ride or stable your horse, Hargate Hill has everything you need.
Services
At Hargate Hill we have an exceptional range of horses and ponies - each trained for riders of all ages and abilities. Children are welcome to ride with us from the age of 4 and there is no upper age restriction! To speak to one of our friendly team about your tuition requirements Contact Us or view our Price List.
To build confidence and balance, younger children are offered an initial 30 minute walk out on the lead and rein. They'll then progress to private lessons where they'll learn to work the pony on their own in walk and trot. When they're ready (there's no time limit) they'll be offered the opportunity to join a group lesson.
Almost every famous horse rider, show jumper and eventer started riding with the Pony Club. Someday that could be you. Encourage young people to ride, have fun and enjoy a range of sports connected with horses and riding. Provide instruction in horse riding and horsemanship and show members how to properly care for their animals.
We strive to deliver a friendly environment with the highest standards of service for you and your horse. We offer a wide selection of livery services including DIY, part and full livery stabling. With over 100 stables, large areas of turn out land (all with post and rail fencing) and excellent facilities, we can accommodate all your horse and pony needs.
The high standard of animal care and the exemplary facilities we pride ourselves on has won recognition from Kirklees College - so much so that they've partnered with us to offer a range of horse and small animal care courses. This course is a stepping stone for those interested in a career in the animal care industry e.g. in kennels, animal welfare establishments, grooming parlours or as a veterinary nursing assistant.

Police have been called on a number of occasions due to multiple problems with the owners. They are rude and aggressive. They purposely block off rights of ways. Don’t waste your time paying for fishing as only 2 pegs and no fish. Place looks lovely initially, but the amount of rubbish, broken glass everywhere is a hazard to kids, horses and dogs. The grazing is a swamp and properly not rotated. The yard has seen better days with no upkeep and investment given. They will only work on a cash only basis. Cafe is never open.

Staff here are very rude and not family friendly, BEWARE, if you follow a footpath from the fields you might end crossing the property of a lovely guy who lives in the house next to the stables, he gets very agitated and aggressive if you accidentally cross his land.
Came here with my 2 children who wanted to see the animals on the farm, but we were told to leave because its private property.
My daughter loves horses and wanted to start riding lessons, but after today's events she wont be coming here.
Aren't you supposed to encourage and welcome new potential clients?
