Services
Founded in 1977, we take pride in being the first purpose-built indoor bowling club in the area. With over 400 members, East Dorset Indoor Bowls Club is a friendly club offering six full length rinks equipped with electronic scoreboards, a licensed bar and restaurant. During the Winter season, we operate some 20 leagues during the week and participate in local, County and National competitions as well as many friendlies.
This daily diary of who is playing what, and on which rink, is live on a TV in the bar, enabling members to see if and when a rink comes available. Today, you can log into the online system to see where you or your colleagues are in leagues, how you or they are doing in internal competitions and, most importantly you can now book rinks for roll-ups, County or National competitions or internal Club competitions.
A player can enter as many leagues as they wish. To play in a league, the player must be a member of EDIBC, with the exception of the Tuesday Evening Triples Cash Challenge which invites teams from other bowls clubs. We also play in various external leagues for both Men and Ladies; for historical reasons, our Men are affiliated to Hampshire Bowls whilst our Ladies are affiliated to Dorset Bowls.
EDIBC runs a comprehensive portfolio of competitions for men and women, culminating in an exciting Finals weekend and Presentation Night. Success internally allows progression to County Finals and beyond. Club competitions are open to all paid-up members. Each round of a competiton has a closing date and the challenger will offer two dates no less than 14 days before that date, including weekends and evenings.
Do not pass up the chance to book a friendly match with East Dorset Indoor Bowls Club. We have a superb 6-rink facility with bar services on offer. Your Club can also book pre-match lunches, refreshment breaks and after match dinners - the choice is yours! We even arrange Afternoon Tea for one visiting club.
