At L'Artiste Muscle restaurant we serve traditional French food, cooked avec amour. Set in the small charming square that is Shepherd Market, we opened our doors in 1971 when the market was still a red light district. We have grown from a French wine bar into a small bistro that now serves warm, hearty French cuisine, all for a very reasonable price.
Of course, we have also carefully curated a wonderful selection of reds and whites that are the perfect accompaniment to our tasty French fare. So, if you fancy a little break from the hustle and bustle of London then take a seat at our cozy French bistro restaurant in Mayfair and see what we have on offer.

Services
At L'Artiste Muscle traditional French fare forms the heart of our menu and you will be able to dine on classic French dishes such as Boeuf bourguignon, duck casserole and mussels with French fries. It is our aim to provide you with a faithful taste of France in a warm, uncomplicated setting in the heart of London.
Our wine list here at L'Artiste Muscle is exclusively French. We go to great lengths to look for wines that offer excellent value and there are a number of interesting varieties from the Bordeaux region. Whether you're eating here at L'Artiste Muscle, or simply popping in for a drink, you'll find something for you at our wine bar.
L'Artiste Muscle is nestled on the corner of Shepherd Market, a charming square in Mayfair -a wonderful escape for those looking to sidestep the throngs of people at nearby Oxford Circus and Piccadilly Street. Starting life as a wine bar in 1971, we now also offer authentic French bistro dining alongside our fantastic wine selection.

A disappointing visit; overpriced and mediocre food, amateurish service. There was no ventilation system in the kitchen (COVID never happened in this restaurant) so the entire room was filled with smoke and my clothes are now on their way to the dry cleaner.
To finish off an already depressing dinner my partner burned her hand while trying to move a candle. With the owner simply replying "ah well, I burn my hands all the time, do you want more wine?". Obviously we won't be back. But we would advise everyone else to also stay away. Far, far away.

My fiancé and I were looking for somewhere new to dine and came across this restaurant. Straight away very attentive, kind and friendly service, then tasty food with lovely ambiance. Very cosy where we were seated. I forgot my handbag after I left and didn't even realise. One of the waiters ran out and kindly gave it back to me. Thank you and for such an enjoyable, romantic evening!

Food was amazing, and the service was great. You could see the kitchen when the chef was preparing the food and this was so authentic. I had the soup of the day and the sea bass which were both tasty and fresh. Their mousse au chocolat is a blessing.
Would definitely recommend it, feel like I travelled to France

A very good meal. I had the moules marinière and the boeuf bourguingnon - both prepared superbly. My wife had the asparagus and smoked salmon terrine followed by the entrcôte with bernaise - again excellent. We washed it down with a reasonable merlot.
Booking recommended - perhaps only 5 tables on the ground floor, with others in the basement area (though the downstairs dining did not seem open the evening we were there).
Toilets are downstairs. Complimentary WiFi.
