Time To Talk
I am a qualified counsellor with over 15 years' experience. I work in the Hanover area of Brigton and offer individual and relationship counselling as well as clinical supervisionto counsellors other professionals. I'm guessing that if you're reading this you are already thinking about having some counselling.

Deciding to start counselling can be a daunting step to take, especially if you're not sure what to expect and it is difficult to know which counsellor to choose; so I've tried to provide you with all of the information you might need to know about me, my practice and counselling itself to help in your decision.
Services
The main focus of Person-Centred counselling is in creating a 'therapeutic relationship' between counsellor and client. The client needs to be able to talk about whatever they need to, share their intimate thoughts and explore sometimes difficult feelings. For this the client needs to feel able to fully trust the counsellor; they need to feel safe, supported and that they will not be judged.
It can be thought that counselling is only for those people who have reached 'crisis point' in their lives, but it can also be helpful in stopping people from getting to that 'crisis point' in the first place! People come to counselling will all kinds of different problems and issues.

It could be that there is something that has happened in the past that you feel you have not dealt with and might be getting in the way of your everyday life or you could be experiencing some difficult feelings that you just don't know what to do with.Counselling can enable you to have greater insight into how you behave and interact with others, and how you deal with your emotions.
I have been working as a Counsellor in Brighton since 2003. I completed my training at Brighton University and have a Post-Graduate Diploma in Counselling. I work in a Person-Centred way and integrate other humanistic models depending on the needs of each individual client. I am also a qualified counselling supervisor and offer individual and group supervision to qualified counsellors and those still in training.
I have additional training in Couples Counselling using the Arts, I believe it can be useful to bring creative exercises into couples work which can offer a different perspective on the relationship and therefore further possibilities for change. We would discuss whether if this is something you would both like to try.
You don't have to be good at Art! (phew!) Using creativity in counselling can help clients to express what they are feeling, without the need to put it into words. The images created can give you new ways of seeing yourself or understanding your world, which can lead to increased self-awareness, personal growth and psychological healing.
