Purely Pilates
You'll begin to feel the benefits of a class with us from your first session. The classes consist of a series of strengthening and resistance exercises that will help increase your flexibility and strengthen your core. You'll start to notice the difference in your daily life as you move more easily, with better posture and muscular control that will give you better functional fitness for every day tasks.

Not only can Pilates help with your daily life but it reduces back pain and can help a variety of other injuries and specialist populations. Pilates can also help to reduce the risk of injury and can dramatically improve athletic performance. And the thing we really love about Pilates at Purely is how it releases the stress and tensions of our clients everyday lives.
Services
Karen became passionate about Pilates when she was introduced to it as a dancer over 30 years ago when she used the method to overcome an injury. Karen trained with Stott Pilates in 2001 and now teaches mat, reformer and equipment-based classes. Karen has a particular interest for post-rehabilitation training and has clients that have remained with her from a practitioners referral to working through to compete in a sporting event.
Continuity of care is one of our passions. We have created strong links with local health practitioners such as osteopaths, physiotherapists and chiropractors so that we can work together to get back to the best you can be and enjoying life again. Working collaboratively and sharing information with the right health practitioner means we can take extra care of you.
Mat classes are the foundation to all Pilates exercises so if you are new to Pilates this is the best place to start. We offer mat classes at different levels, in small groups so we can make sure the class is tailored to each individual in it. If you've never attended a Pilates class before you'll need to have a 1-1 first (see below for more information).
Following the recent Government announcement, we wanted to update you on our plans for the studio. We are approaching the new relaxed rules very. We have two group intro sessions running in June to accommodate those of you that are new and those keen to come back and in need of a refresher. It's time to stretch and unfurl as we slowly start to come out of the restrictions of the last 16 months.
PP Online Library has a host of workouts at different levels and focusing on different areas or elements of Pilates for you to practice at home. Practicing more than once a week has huge benefits for your body and mind, improving muscular memory and improving body awareness. This is a chance for you to focus on your specific postural issues or assist rehabilitation with injuries.

Been going to Purely Pilates for years following a back injury, through a combination of mat classes and studio sessions I have been able to return to full working life in nursing. All the instructors are really friendly and can adapt the exercises to your injury needs, if you have any ! Highly recommend them, don’t hesitate to give them a try !

The fact that I’m pain-free and active after retirement is down to Purely Pilates. It’s a studio with superb teachers who combine high levels of expertise with empathy. Each class is precisely planned with the needs of the individuals in mind, so you feel safe, looked after and able to make progress. Karen has a real gift for teaching. She’s thoughtful and perceptive in ways that make her classes work for a variety of needs and ages.

I wouldn't be without my twice-weekly sessions and this studio comes highly recommended. Thinking of taking up Pilates? This is a great place to start.

I think Pilates is a great way to relax and feel stronger at the same time, I particularly like the fact that I feel taller, more upright and in contact with my core when I leave. Pilates and running are the… perfect exercise combination for me. Thank you Charlotte for your attention to detail and sense of humour on Wednesday evening.
