Medication requests need to be made via the box in surgery, your pharmacy or via Patient Access (please ring reception for details). This is run by a group of patients who have volunteered to try to improve the services and facilities offered by the practice. We have a clinical pharmacist working with the practice, his name is Omar and he is employed by our PCN (a group of GP practices in Hindley, Platt Bridge and Ince working together).

If you receive a text message inviting you to have a telephone consultation with Omar, please be reassured he is working with the practice and the message is genuine. Hindley Health Centre is part of Wigan GP Alliance. Wigan GP Alliance offer appointments with a GP between 6.30pm and 8.00pm weekdays and 10.00am to 4.00pm at weekends.
Services
Special Interest : Child Health, Family planning, Teaching & training, Hypertension & CKD. The practice manager and assistant practice manager are responsible for the daily running of the practice. If there is anything you feel you would like to discuss or any suggestions you would care to make, then please put this in writing and leave it at reception.
A variety of free clinics is available to all patients. We can help with weight reduction, smoking cessation, cutting down on alcohol consumption, advice on exercise and stress reduction. We also offer general health checks in our well persons clinic and screening for blood pressure, heart disease and stroke prevention.
All requests are triage by a GP and patients will be contacted by return message, video consultation, telephone consultation or a face to face consultation. Any patients who do not have internet access can telephone reception and the request will be put into ASK MY GP by the receptionist. No consultations will be booked by the receptionist.
Instead, over the counter medicines are available to buy in a pharmacist or supermarket in your local community. The team of health professionals at your local pharmacy can offer help and clinical advice to manage minor health concerns and if your symptoms suggest it's more serious, they'll ensure you get the care you need.
We try to be helpful and to provide a caring service whilst accepting that things are not always ideal and people can have reasons to complain. In that event we will listen but are no longer prepared to tolerate abuse. Any patient who is repeatedly rude or aggressive may be asked to register elsewhere.

You phone for appointments however if this is after mid morning you are told to recall the next day. Thats after trying online booking which the surgery currently suggest is a requirement but does not seem to work. That I find out is because the online booking system is turned off at 12am lol. Cut out the middleman go straight for the walk in centre. Their system is painless and their reception polite and understanding.

Unfortunately since the pandemic this practice has gone from bad to worse. Rude receptionist, poor communication, complaints and concerns not being followed up, ignored or dismissed completely. Poor management. Doctors not taking patients concerns and worries seriously. Being expected to use askmyGP for both adults and children and having your issues exposed to an entire practice instead of a chosen GP you wish to discuss your issues with and then being treated rudely when you question these actions. Expected to wait days for a reply to a medical issue or advised to ‘go to a&e if you are so worried’

Apparently asking questions to the receptionist regarding your health concerns that have been deemed not important enough to get a doctor to even call you, even though not 7 days before a doctor from the same surgery said it was not right and I needed to see a doctor regarding said health problem... well that makes me difficult, not liked by the reception staff and hard work. All said by A certain RECEPTIONIST because I questioned the care I was receiving from this practice.
This is not the first run in I've had with this receptionist who has also threatened to have me struck off the practices

Absolutely disgusting the way doctors refuse to see patients, face to face.. Send you to A&E to do their job!!!! They wonder why the hospitals are at breaking point when we have doctors like this!! It's the GP, s who put that pressure on NHS , Not the patients 😡

Rang for the doctor to attend as we knew my father in law was dying from terminal cancer. We just wanted a doctor to take a look at him and reassure us that we was doing everything possible to make him as comfortable as possible. The doctor refused to come out to him but offered a phone consultation. The doctor spoke to my father in law and told us he sounded bright But in reality he was fading fast. Less than 12 hours later my father in law passed away. Were is the care and compassion for a man who served his country and has been with this surgery from its beginning. This happened in December 2020

Lots of services here in. Usual DOCTORS surgery you can enrole to plus district nursing appointments (Dressings etc), midwifery services, baby clinics, school HEALTH services, rooms for booking out to social care etc for meetings/assessments etc, and much more of similar topics. Just give reception a call or have a look online.
...bear in mind the adjoining chemist has varied closing and late(ish)... however not all the times coincide with surgery 'opening hour's.
CHEMIST CLOSING TIMES:
M-F 1900 hrs
Wed 1700 hrs
Sat 1100 hrs
Just check your surgery appt. Times alongside the above chemist

Not a surgery of my choice. December time last year my wife was taken ill, to a point id thought she was having a stroke. She couldnt move and was out of it. Doctor refused to come out and by the info we gave him he diagnosed her over the phone as having Vertigo. In the earlier hours of the morning she was rushed by ambulance to Wigan A and E were a Nurse on top her game could smell peardrops on her breath which next minute everyone was rushing to get drips onto her and blood tests etc. Once the panic settled down i asked whats the problem. They said she had a high level of Ketones in her blood

I rang the doctors at 08.29 to try and book an appointment to see a doctor, I spoke to a receptionist called Linda who very abrubtly told me to ring back at 08.30, When I tried to ring back at 08.30 for the sake of a minute I couldn't get through when I finally got through again at 08.39 I spoke to Linda again who told me that there was no appointments left for today. Linda was rude to me and once again very abrupt, I don't believe Linda shows any empathy or understanding in my opinion should not be working in doctors surgery. People ring the doctors surgery to request to see a doctor because they

I've used this centre several times,I mostly for the children and get mixed experiences. The last few though haven't been positive. I know the NHS are over worked and underfunded, but that doesn't excuse poor customer service. After using the automated telephone service for a prescription three times and getting cut off each time was rather frustrating. Calls go into a queue and you're told they are busy with other customers. Fine. But then the phone rings and another automated message explains they are busy call back later and ends your call. What happened to the queue I was in?
