I'm a busy musician and music teacher based in West Totton, Hampshire, easily accessible from the West of Southampton and also the East New Forest. With over 17 years of experience as a music tutor, I offer fun, engaging and flexible tuition to beginner and intermediate players of all ages. I always aim to ensure that my lessons offer the most rewarding experience possible.

If you're looking for piano lessons, keyboard lessons or bass guitar lessons, please take a look at one of the dedicated pages of this site to find out more about my teaching philosophy. I teach one-to-one lessons at home in my fully-equipped music studio, where students benefit from a variety of instruments and range of playing material.

The desire to create music is a natural urge and for many the piano is an obvious choice of instrument. Capable of producing beautiful sounds, it fits across virtually all genres. Producing delicate, single-note melody lines or rich, polyphonic textures, it can be enjoyed alone as a solo instrument, or socially in a group.
Feel tuned into the low end of music? Whether it's providing the driving, rhythmic force that powers today's rock and pop classics, the irresistable, get-up-and-dance groove in funk, or the soaring melodic virtuosity in prog rock, the bass guitar has a compelling presence. It's easy to see its appeal to so many.
I teach online lessons using Skype, a Macbook Pro and its integrated webcam & microphone. You simply make a video call to me on Skype at the agreed time and I accept. You see me and the instrument throughout the lesson and my teaching approach is exactly the same as it would be if you were in the same room.
Our son, aged 6, has been going to Dan for piano lessons for about 8 months and he thoroughly enjoys it. Dan encourages him to learn at his own pace in a friendly environment. Dan is an excellent piano teacher. He's a very talented pianist and able to tailor lessons to suit my goals. He went out of his way to find exactly the type of music I wanted to learn, at a level I could access.
Q: I'm not interested in exams, will you still teach me? A: Absolutely. Whatever your goals - aspiring performer or purely learning for personal enjoyment - I'll be happy to help you achieve them. Q: What kind of music will I study? A: The music you'd like to study!

In combination with carefully selected tuition books which will guide you through music fundamentals and technique, I'll work with you to find out what type of music you'd like to play.Whatever you're into, we'll be able to find suitable material which matches your ability. Q: How much practise do you advise?
