Many of our rooms have been refurbished in an elegant style equipped with all modern comforts for a relaxing stay. With roaring fires in Winter and served by an onsite brewery, it's the perfect setting to sample real ales and socialise with family and friends. With large areas to entertain, the Blue Boar has a packed diary of live music events and visiting bands for guests to enjoy.
Enjoy our beverages in one of our many indoor our outdoor seating areas. To compliment our two spacious bars and stunning Blue Room, the grounds are home to flora-rich exterior seating. Kick back on the deck chairs and play lawn games in the garden, or enjoy a drink in our cobbled courtyard and admire the Blue Boar's 15th century facade.

Scary looking portraits, no-one on check in felt like the Mary celeste, broken coffee machine in room, noisy room where street cleaners and rubbish vans wake you from 6am, shower gel and items in bathroom not replenished so none to really use and no milk in the room, very dusty items like lampshades and tv remote in room unlikely cleaned in months.

Reviewed as a pub, this is one of the oldest pubs in Maldon, there may be one older but the Blue Boar is by far the most interesting building with an agreeable old world feeling and various drinking locations in and outside the building. My favourite, in summer, is the open seating area to the left of the pub/hotel, this area gets the sun most of the day and during the evening, there is plenty of comfortable outdoor seating and tree shade with umbrellas. Drinks are ordered at an open window, prices are well below London pubs so this is most welcome. The slight downside is the lack of food served

Don't be put off by the person who answers the phone. When I got there, I found a large free carpark, at the rear of a lovely old hotel. The place is very clean and staff very helpful. My room was a bit small, but that couldn't be helped, as most of the room was taken up by the on sweet bathroom.
The town is full of independent traders, so it doesn't look like every other high street.

Our family was here in March 2020. We loved this place. Off site parking was close. The room was nice, clean and quiet. The restaurant was fantastic. The food was delicious the staff are great and accommodating. Our family really enjoyed the whole stay. Will come back here on our next trip to England.
