Wanna learn guitar, bass or ukulele, or music harmony & theory for any instrument (not only guitar/bass/uke)? I am Malcolm, a DBS checked RGT tutor since 23 years, who communicates my love for music by helping you my student continually improve in how you translate your feelings and music ideas onto the guitar/bass/ukelele (regardless of your preferred style), or to understand how notes in your head/on paper sound in reality (if learning harmony/theory in addition to/separate from the above instruments).

The electric guitar is the instrument that shaped any music from the 1950s onward! It can be played with a plectrum or fingers, or a combination of both, and I can teach you it from beginner to advanced level. I can teach you to write own songs, we can learn your fave songs, or I sometimes include songs to showcase you a particular technique!
The steel string acoustic guitar is used for most styles of popular music. It can be strummed with a pick or played with your fingers, or a combination of both, and comes in different shapes. Confused? To determine which one is for you, read this article comparing different guitar sizes, and their respective tonal differences and comfort of play!
The classical guitar is mainly used for classical, Latin and flamenco styles, and is generally played by fingers not a pick. There are 2 types of classical guitar - concert or flamenco. I give classical guitar lessons from beginner to intermediate level, from early music through to renaissance, baroque, classical, romantic and 20th/21st century pieces.
The bass guitar is the low end of any band in any style of music. Although traditionally played by the fingers, the development of technology and louder guitars has called upon bass players to also learn how to pick to be heard. I give bass guitar lessons of all levels, taking you through patterns that are most common in varied contemporary styles, with a focus on patterns most present in your style of choice.

Malcolm is a great tutor, he loves music, and has experience performing and teaching. I would really recommend Malcolm as his experience as a tutor makes him professional but super friendly and kind, he is able to play different styles and can adapt to your level. Thanks Malcolm!

Malcolm’s lessons are never dull! He brings bags of enthusiasm (think Jack Black’s character from School of Rock) which he balances with discipline and knowledge (think Mr Miyagi from Karate Kid). He’s helped me gain a better understanding of music and brought far more structure to my guitar playing.

My daughter is 6 years old and she really enjoys learning the Ukulele from Malcolm. He is very systematic and patient specially with a 6 year old. Would highly recommend if someone is looking to learn Ukulele or Guitar. If one would follow the ways he teaches, the foundation would be really strong.

Malcolm is incredibly knowledgable and a superb teacher. He explains things with brilliant analogies and has an expert level of musical understanding. Very friendly, welcoming and lessons always go at the perfect pace. 10/10 would recommend to anybody of any level. I’ve been playing guitar for over 10 years but wanted some lessons to improve in areas that I’m not as up to scratch on and lessons with Malcolm have been perfect for this.

I have been learning guitar with Malcolm for more than a year, during which I have seen my skills improve massively. Lessons are always well structured around specific topics with a good balance of theory and practice, allowing you to take the content of the lesson up a level with homework during the week. Malcolm is flexible on the skills that you want to learn more quickly, tailoring the content of the lessons so you can get the most satisfaction from the learning experience with him. That keeps you motivated and wanting to learn more while making it a lot of fun. I would definitely recommend

Malcolm is a really great teacher and with his guidance, my guitar skills have developed so much since beginning lessons with him. His method of teaching also sets you up for success, while being as efficient as possible to get the more boring stuff (theory/technique) lerned quickly so you can do the fun stuff of playing fun songs or even making your own music. I'd highly recommend lessons with Malcolm. The adjustment to online lessons during Covid has also gone really smoothly.

Malcolm is a dedicated teacher. He looks for ways to engage students and stimulate their interests in music. My son had lessons from quite a young age, and the thought that went into teaching methods and techniques meant the lessons were never boring. I really believe Malcolm is passionate about helping his students to succeed and enjoy learning.
