I have been studying with John for a few years and I have throughly enjoyed my lessons. John has helped my playing and technique considerably, particularly improving my technique to avoid injury (a problem I'd had in the past). He is able to communicate ideas in a simple and effective way and I recommend studying with him.

I think finding the right teacher is very important; I've tried a couple and John is the first one who has helped me make genuine progress. John is very calm and patient. The lessons move at just the right pace for me and he always suggests practical exercises, which make learning new things much easier and more enjoyable. He is very attentive to your playing and whenever I feel like I've hit a brick wall, he's been able to explain a different way of approaching the problem and help me move past it. I would highly recommend John to anyone looking for a teacher.

John is a patient and talented tutor and I enjoy my weekly lesson. I don't get time for enough practise but unlike many teachers John is happy to follow a pace that suits me. Lessons are varied and interesting with just the right balance of scales, songs, theory and chords. Highly recommended, especially if you are looking for a tutor who can teach a wide variety of styles.

I've been a student of John's for nearly two years now and he's the reason why I've finally managed to learn guitar and stick with it. After many years of trying to teach myself, I booked a lesson with John and haven't looked back.
He's not only taught me the fundamentals of playing; through chords, scales, modes and the like, but also showed me a wide variety of playing styles that I might not have originally considered like reggae and jazz.
John is a great tutor, and comes highly recommended.
