We are an Independent Funeral Directors based in Staffordshire, serving the vibrant local communities in and around Newcastle-Under-Lyme for just over 200 years. Using our empathetic personal approach, we support and guide people through the funeral process, from planning the perfect service to organising a fitting tribute.
Wootton's Funeral Directors of Wolstanton was believed to have been founded in 1820 by Cornelius Wootton. Indeed, A Cornelius Wootton appears on a photograph of a horse drawn hearse taken outside St. Margaret's Church, where the war memorial stands today. In 1881 Cornelius Wootton was living in Morris square working as a joiner, but that is not to say that he didn't also work as an undertaker.

Hopkinson Wooton Lovatt took care of my sister's funeral on Thursday 29th April 2021, I just wanted to say that the service from the initial phone call right through the whole porcess was incredible. They were compassionate, thoughtful and the attention to detail was something that has given all of the family some comfort. I wanted to put on record my sincere thanks to the the staff and the celebrant for everything they have done for us during this really sad time.

Absolutely fantastic and please ignore all the negative reviews, because this is a stand out funeral home that go the extra mile ! It was my friends funeral yesterday and they drove by and paused at her place of work, the coffin and flowers where exceptional, the cars where spotlessly clean and the staff where very smartly dressed and the funeral director was really helpful and polite . We watched the service through the live stream provided by the family and Hopkinsons couldn’t do enough for us, and the funeral director came over during the service at bradwell and gave us some orders of service

Can not thank this funeral directors enough for how they gave our dad the beat send off he deserved horse and carrige was beautiful from the first phone call i made to these they made everything so easy and organised for us as this was the 1st time ive ever had to arrange a funeral for our special hero our dad and special husband to our mum. Andrew and the team are amazing with everything. I would highly recommend this service to anyone who has to go through what we had to burying our dad fantastic service from all the team and a beautiful chapel of rest made our dad look lovely and so peaceful

Even the care home staff commented on how wonderful and caring you and your team were. After losing my granddaughter in October this was the only company we considered my nan was buried by them and it was a beautiful service. so we rang them and nothing was to much trouble Nathan was so attentive and very professional. he kept us updated through out and even after. can't thank them enough. My family has used Hopkinson Wootton Lovatt a number of times for family funerals and following the loss of my dad this was my first time organising a funeral and having direct contact with the team at HWL. Our family found the kindness, humanity and professionalism of Hopkinson, Wootton and Lovatt to be outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble; enquiries and our personal requests for changes in details about our wishes were quickly responded to. On the day of the funeral our family needs felt cared for and all aspects of the funeral were carried out with great respect.
